More names for Carling Weekend

Supergrass, The Von Bondies, The Vines, Placebo, Funeral For A Friend, Jurassic 5, Graham Coxon and Hundred Reasons have been added to the line-up for Reading and Leeds.

Coxon, Jurassic 5 and Hundred Reasons play the same day as The Darkness (Friday – Reading, Saturday – Leeds), with the ex-Blur guitarist headlining the Radio 1 Stage. The Vines play the Main Stage on White Stripes day (Saturday – Reading, Sunday – Leeds) with FFAF headlining the Radio 1 Stage, with Supergrass and The Von Bondies both playing the Radio 1 Stage (Sunday – Reading, Friday – Leeds).

We advise you to control your excitement at these shock announcements.

The Carling Weekend Reading and Leeds Festivals take place simultaneously over the bank holiday weekend of 27-29 August. Tickets are around £110 for the weekend.

DiScuss: Will you be throwing stuff at The Vines? Will they have the same hollowed out amps they are famous for ‘destroying’ on stage? Will Coxon out-retro The Darkness?

J5, This is gonna be brilliant. Just like Evan Dando last year.
Whats the bets that J5 and HR are on at the same time ad i have to make the biggest decision of my gigging life.

Re: More names for Carling Weekend

Your *sterility*???? Ok, i wank over J5 as much as next man...but if its got that bad you should really seek help....

Re: More names for Carling Weekend

That's a big decision?
J5, obviously... you can see HR any time.

Re: More names for Carling Weekend

J5 vs H*R! My god, with choices like that to make, and bands like that playing (again), why on earth haven't I got my tickets yet, it looks nearly as good as the Isle Of Wight festy!
Also, do Reading have an aversion to good hiphop on the main stages? Was it the crowd's complete non-reaction to the Pharcyde a few years ago that did for it? Or are they relying on most of the kids there's knowledge of it not extending outside of shit djs playing "concrete schoolyard" and "jayou" endlessly at bad alternative nights in the provinces and uni towns/cities? J5 and 50 Cent, highlight of my summer! Where'd I put that 100 pounds now...

Re: More names for Carling Weekend

Why do they play J5 between Cradle of Filth and NOFX?
Does my head in.

Re: More names for Carling Weekend

Wish they were that 'eclectic' round our way, we're more likely to get them during a semi-designated 'hip hop half hour' (along with Dre, House of Pain, and other overwhelmingly male sorts), shortly before (sing hosannahs!!) the 'ska punk half hour'
Joy of joys

Re: More names for Carling Weekend
