Neutral Milk Hotel are, or were, Jeff Mangum and his band, Jeff was part of the elephant 6 collective. Anyway they're pretty damn good. Check out In the Aeroplane over the sea, one of my fav albums, its marvelous!!

They sound a bit like, hmmmm... i dunno. Hope that helps ;)

As for Broken Family band, i like what i've heard, pity they'll have finished their jaunt with Herman Dune before the dune make stoke

When i was buying "In An Aeroplane Over The Sea" the geezer in the record shop described it as sounding like "an ice-cream van coming over a hill"
I'm not sure how - but it kinda does.
I don't imagine that helps - but there you go.

It was produced by Robert Thingy-Wotsit from The Apples In Stereo - their "The World Inside The Moone" is also a damn fine record.
