With their double-disc Worlds Of Possibility compilation still shimmering like a beacon of finely cut diamond in a sky of oil and tar on my shelf, it's with no little pleasure that I read this news, all of three-and-a-half seconds ago.
Domino Records are to release a rather brilliantly priced compilation on April 17th. Entitled They'll Have To Catch Us First, the wee beaut will set you, el punteroo, back all of a penny shy of three pounds. That, son, is value.
The tracks that comprise this lush affair are as follows:
Psapp 'King Of You'Adem 'You And Moon'
Franz Ferdinand 'L.Wells'
The Kills 'Love Is A Deserter'
Archie Bronson Outfit 'Dart For My Sweetheart'
Sons And Daughters 'Taste The Last Girl'
Test Icicles 'Circle Triangle Square'
Clearlake 'It's Getting Light Outside'
Quasi 'Peace And Love'
Tortoise And Bonnie'Prince'Billy 'Daniel'
Four Tet 'A Joy'
The Television Personalities 'My Dark Places'
Junior Boys 'Like A Child'
Juana Molina 'La Verdad'
DiS fact of the minute: the new Juana Molina record is really quite good, actually.

what
no arctic monkeys?
booo
they are one of my favourite labels
Quasi, Archie Bronson Outfit, Adem, Four Tet and Clearlake are all rather lovely.
and surly there is room for
a Smog track on there.
im glad there's a
psapp track on there. theyre amazing.
erm
says it's £9 on their site
that clearlake track
is teh wOOt, as the net geeks say. i say it's really rather good.
last clearlake album
is a bit disappointing...
i think clearlake are...
.. a bit shit to be honest. always liked the music but thought the vocals were crap.
best band on there, the television personalities.
Eeeeeeeeeeeh?
What's with all the hating on Clearlake? You, Sir, are wrong. Simple as.
Hang on a sec...
...your issue with Clearlake is the vocals... and you like the Television Personalities?
yes...
but his vocals just don't suit the music.
just checked out their myspace page to see if they've improved and the new single is bland as fuck. his vocals have improved a little bit though.
...after Ed Ball of course... ;-)
now....
You think they would have added a track by the wonky genius, Unpoc
wait...
I remember NME gave away a cd in 2004 celebrating Domino's releases over the years. I discovered a few bands through that.
woah
i hadn't spotted all the Clearlake bashing. I think it's a bit daft really, new album's more of a grower though.
mind, anyone choosing a news story referencing bastions of average Tortoise and Bonnie Prince Billy to have a go at Clearlake is a bit silly, really.
:(
Calling Bonnie Prince Billy average? You've just made 'the list'.
I nearly bought this.
It was only £3.
I've got this now
It's good. But I can't see the point in the Bonnie Prince Billy track - an Elton John song that sounds like it was recorded through an old tape deck. Hmmm.
clearlake..bashing...
i love clearlake, but like some of the best things, its an acquired taste. as for domino, yes one of the best labels. along with bella union, moshi moshi and city slang.
