Cat on Form: Set Fire to The UK
They sweat, they scream, they set fire to the world to put things in a better light, they throw anglular chord craziness into pits of noizes and bury 'em with rants. Brighton's Cat On Form may be dogged by lazy comparisons to some of the finest bands in recent times (Fugazi, Icarus Line) but don't for one second think there's anything remotely compromised or predictable or unexciting about two topless guys wrestling with guitars, spewing their souls into microphones, whilst a girl behind them's smashing drums like the skulls of sexist lads and another guy's thundering out bass. The COF live show is the full-on assualt we've been promised, here on earth to make up for all those let downs!
Their debut album 'set them on fire with their own matches' is released Monday 16th June in the UK on Southern. You come buy it at one of their shows!
We recommend all bands go along and get inspired, and anyone with a inclination for noize, be it punk, hardcore, eM* or whatever, just go, to..

DiScuss: DiS knows who some of these bands playing with COF are, and has heard the names of others, but come on underground archivers, tell us and the world how great these bands are, who they are, etc..

Lapsus Linguae, aside from their weird 'classic rock' logo, play some ace dark, heavy stuff. They have loads of MP3s on their website.
And Capdown suck....

Yet they still manage to be great.
Re: Cat on Form: Set Fire to The UK
Snail Racing- Three-way bass and vocal action. Pretty. Like Dianogah.
Tracer AMC- nice slo-core. As slo-core tends to be.
Lapsus Linguae- you've heard 'em already, I bet. Good.
And there should be a load more decent support bands that haven't been mentioned. Bands that DON'T strive for indie rock superstardom. Bands that DON'T give a shit about being reviewed on a webzine. Not that I'm being nasty or anything.
nice
I don't understand the problem of people who love bands, writing about bands they love. I dont understand great bands not wanting to compromise in the slightest so people can actually hear them and have their lives changed by them. Is sending out a demo selling out? Would you be equal to Busted if your band gave a shit about people coming along to a gig? Course not. But it's important that people don't think you're a fucktard, right?
We're [drowned in sound] on an ongoing mission to change the way the grassroots of the uk works and allow people to get less of a glimpse and more of a foot in the door into what's actually happening out there. Basically improving access to it. If people don't want people to listen to their band, then fuck them. Being reviewed isn't important to some people then fine, but it doesn't stop people writing about something they love. It's all discourse for the greater good and I'd rather spend my time writing about great stuff which isnt corporate crap and dream that one day a band can do it all on their own terms and not have to work a shitty job or live in poverty to do it their waaay.
The underground is this country is so backward. Discuss.
p.s. without the grassroots, the grass falls and desertification takes place (i'm sure some geography nerd can expand on this theory-in-similie)
Cat on Form: Set Fire to The UK - Drummer
eva has bust her back, and cannot come on ANY of the tour below. since cancelling the whole tour would be infinitely crap, we've decided to take on the challenge and play out anyways.
we have replacement drummers for some shows :: our friend ashleigh from the rather fine charlottefield will be playing the shows marked * (and possibly more), and tom barnes (the oedipus, now i'm being good) will be joining us for the ones marked #. the other shows will most likely feature us 3 with a drum machine! we just wanted to make sure everyone knew and didn't turn up thinking "what the fuck!?". wherever possible we're gonna have replacement drummers play instead of using the drum machine, because we prefer it that way. for now this is how things look :
