Isle o' Wight: This Years Bill

After last years Charlatans headlined, apparently poor ticket selling, Isle of Wight Festival, famous for Hendrix rockin' it back in the day, returns for 2003..

On 14th & 15th June @ Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight you will be able to wrap your seabreezed senses around: Paul Weller, Starsailor, Iggy Pop, Counting Crows, Bryan Adams + "many more to be announced soon". That does look a bit like a bill for my folks, especially if you bear in mind Ash and Hundred Reasons played it last year and it's meant to be a rival to glasto. However, on Solo's (the promoters) messageboard they promise "There will certainly be acts to rock you!"

Tickets are £30 for one day, £50 for the weekend with an extra £10 for camping Thurs-Monday, all available from Ticketzone.co.uk or call 08705 321321. If you'd like to get your ferry ticket at the same time (it's the most expensive bit of sea to cross for its distance in the world dontchaknow!) ticket packages are available soon from redfunnel.co.uk/music or by calling: 0870 444 8898.

More info can be found over @ isleofwightfestival.com.

DiScuss: Who do you wanna see play it? Did you go last year, what was it like?

Isle o' Wight: This Years Bill

Hm..
I live on the island and have mixed feelings about the bill. the word CHEESE springsto mind looking at the list, although iggy pops gonna be there which methinx'll be cool! its good value though, really.
Hopefully theres some more acts lined up though that'll be somewhat better.
I reckon it'll sell better this year. definetly better acts than last years charlatens!!!
I do think that solo should have done more to find out what people wanted from the festival though.

We went last year and it was an "interesting" event. As somewhat of a veteran of Glastonbury and TintheP I thought it would be quite good to go somewhere as legendary as the Isle of Wight. Hmm. It was poorly attended and seemed to consist of a lot of local people (a local festival for local people perhaps!). Yes, there was a good line up (although personally it allowed me to see Hundred Reasons - and I'm sorry folks, but what is all the fuss about? They are SOOOO over-rated. My opinion.) but the whole thing just lacked atmosphere. The line up this year (and I'm with Sean here) does look like something your mum and dad might want to go to see and I for one will not be wasting my money. Unless they pull somethning spectacular out at the last minute. Iggy is quite a coup, but not enough for me to make that bouncy hovercraft journey from Southsea again.

Sorry - One more thing that is a positive one. Going last year introduced me to Johnny4 and they are a top band!!! They need a deal and we need to hear more from them!!!
