Cable get screwed again by The Man

Sometimes we behave ourselves at DiS and when we're told a secret gig is actually
a SECRET, we keep it to ourselves - such was the case of CABLE reforming for a
one-off gig to kill the band properly, supporting Hundred Reasons at Brixton Academy
on Nov 8th.
The band were personally invited to play by Hundred Reasons, who were big Cable fans. Well, we are rather gutted to announce that Cable have called it off, and you have Sony Music to 'thank'. Ex-bassist Pete Darrington made a statement on a Derby bands messageboard:
"We have decided to pull out of the show, having discussed it at great length with our management. We were due to start rehearsals this weekend. I personally was not that keen in the first, but there you go.
"Sony began over the last week, laying down some major label draconian style bullshit to our management about who's paying for what, exactly how long we were going to play for, what time we were going on, saying we couldn't have more than 3 guests, no merch (not that we had any) and they were particularly uncomfortable when they found a certain national weekly were interested in running a piece on Cable reforming as one of the main features of the gig, they starting trying to say 'No Press for Cable'.
"We decided that this is the kind of shit we don't miss about being on a major label and the gig was meant to be a fun thing for us, a chance to kill Cable off in a good way, not some wankers' nightmare party that it was turning into. So we walked."
This is sad. :( But they haven't ruled out the possibility of a reunion show some other time. :)
Pete now plays in a band called Hudson Super Six, who are releasing their debut 7" single, 'Raised To The Ground/Food & Drink', in November, and are playing some gigs too. Keep an eye out for them.

I wish Cable hadn't split up, but I hear Richie Mills has formed another band with A's frontman. Anyone know what they are called so I can track them down?!!

Cable get screwed again by The Man
The most tragic event in recent music history was the brief career of Cable.WHAT A BAND!!!They should have created there own genre and blew away the opposition.Well, nobody listened.Im glad i got it.Graham Coxon should beg them to reform and join his label.
Re: Cable get screwed again by The Man
