DiS Gig, London: 14 Aug 2002
HELLO, AND WELCOME.
drownedinsound.com would like to inform you of its next gig, and another nicely-diverse bill it is too.
The bands: The Boy Cartographer, Cléan, Plans And Apologies
The date: Wed 14 Aug
The location: The Windmill, Brixton - which can be found on Blenheim Gardens, off Brixton Hill, about a 10-minute walk from Brixton tube station (cross over the road out of the station, walk left up Brixton Hill for a while and Blenheim Gardens is on the right. If you're lazy, there are plenty of busses).
The cost: 3 Earth Pounds and no bloody guestlist
The time: 8pm till whenever
THE BOY CARTOGRAPHER
Lo-fi noodlings with intricate guitar parts and all that sort of stuff. Fairly new and unsigned, gaining a good name for themselves on their home-turf of Glasgow. Rather fine indeed oh and John Peel has played their demo. Bet they weren't expecting to headline tonight but they are, ho ho.
ONSTAGE: 10.15pm
CLéAN
Eclectic Swiss band now located in, er, Bristol. Debut album 'More Or Less The Truth' out now on Sugarshack Records. Taking in influences from hip hop to Pink Floyd to dEUS, you could say they are somewhat diverse. Album is fab so this should be interesting live.
ONSTAGE: 9.30pm
PLANS AND APOLOGIES
Makes this listener think of The Delgados with louder amps... Quiet bits and loud bits in all the right places, lots of twists'n'turns. Causing a fuss in the Derby scene and recording an album for GRATE label, Artists Against Success. Soon to be one of your new favourite bands!
ONSTAGE: 8.45pm
INBETWEEN BAND MUZAK
I'm thinking new Weezer demos and I'm thinking The Music or Gerling or something.

Bands wanting to play future gigs can also contact me.
* ADVANCE LISTINGS *
Aug 21: Jetplane Landing, Thoria, I Own Kings
Sep 4: TBC, The Young Knives, Mercury Tilt Switch
Sep 25: Caretaker, Dustball, Mavis
Oct: hmm, we're thinking more experimental and acousticy stuff this month as well as our normal 'Loud Wednesday' shenanigans. Oh yeah, Lambeth Council have slapped a sound limiter on us now but we're still gonna be goddamn loud, so don't worry about that.
