Listen: When Saints Go Machine cover The Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony' (DiS Premiere)
The makers of one of DiS' favourite albums of 2011, re-invent a classic... plus we have a competition to win tickets to see When Saints Go Machine live!
The towering Dane, Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild explains their decision to change and 'remould' this:
The Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony' is one of the greatest pop songs written during the last thirty years and we shouldn't have messed with it, but we couldn't help it. In case you've forgotten what the original sounds like, here you go:
Which ironically Ashcroft and co. sampled from Andrew Loog Oldham's re-working of The Rolling Stones 'The Last Time'.
We've got a pair of tickets to give away to When Saints Go Machine's almost sold out London show at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on Monday 2nd April. To enter, simply share a link to your favourite cover and we'll pick a winner at random on Friday 30th March at midday.
Catch them live (it's truly a sight to behold)
