To celebrate this performance at the Ether Festival on April 20, pioneering-pianist Hauschka aka Volker Bertelmann has recorded one of the finest videos - thanks to director Andreas Huth - yet to showcase exactly how his 'prepared piano' thingamy works.
His album Ferndorf and follow-up EP Snowflakes And Car Wrecks are both undoubtedly works of intricate and innovative beauty.
DiS has an exclusive performance of 'Eltern' here. Watch and enjoy Hauschka and Huth's brilliant collaboration.
Looks like dear Volker has a bit of a sweet tooth, but like most Germans, he's been industrious and efficient, managing never to throw away any of the cellophane wrappers. A fine musical and ecological achievement indeed.

I really like Hauschka
but only just got into his music after getting him continually confused with Devotchka. Who are shit.
