Anybody lucky enough to have been listening to Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show earlier this evening will have heard 'Golden Age', the lead single from the new TV On The Radio record (previewed exclusively on DiS last week).
If you didn't, redeem yourself now by clicking through to their official website, where it's currently streaming.
Exciting, isn't it? Certainly one of their more straightforward pieces of soul-pop (by their own admission, Dear Science is deliberately stripped-back). In fact, it sounds to our ears like the kind of funky thing Prince and Michael Jackson might come up with if they were both still sane and writing decent material.
That said, anything Dave Sitek lends his hand to is sure to have a lot of interesting stuff going on beneath the surface, and repeat listens reveal more and more sonic intricacy. We like. But do you?
DiScuss: Were you listening intently to Zane Lowe? Or did you hear it on the TVOTR site? Can you wait for Dear Science? And the rumoured UK live appearances? Or do you care more about the new Bloc Party release?

TVOTR vs Bloc Party
despite being a bigger fan of Bloc Party than TVOTR I have to say I'm more excited by Dear Science whilst I'm awaiting Intimacy with a sense of trepidation.
I'm really surprised by Golden Age but it's brilliant.
i like it
and i'm sure it'll get better on repeat listens like all their other stuff. i can't wait for dear science, cookie mountain was amazing
I agree
Not sure what I was expecting but it's... different. And brilliant, too. I expected that much.
Bloc Party, on the other hand, are for me a band who shouldn't have tried to do so much fixing of something that wasn't really broken in the first place. I'm all for progression, but Mercury? No thanks.
its stunning
as expected but more popy which i like - can't wait to see them in london when they come over.
The search for single of the year is over.
Quite brilliant. Fantastic production especially the strings near the end.
Fucking
awesome.
Brilliant
They're like a 21st century talking heads or something.
FAO Bloc Party: this is how you do 'progression'.
listened to it like 10 times now
it's amazing
pretty
amazing
this is fairly awesome
i didn't really expect bombastically cheerful from TVOTR, but they do do it damn well
not being funny like
but you can't really judge something's production from a low quality stream
Brilliant
Brilliant
Brilliant
Brilliant
good song
but it appears the album cover people didn't get the memo about the comma being included in the title. pitchfork will be furious.
Hmm
i've listened to this a few dozen times from the site now and it still hasn't grabbed me. i do like it, i think if another band had done it i'd be enthusiastic about it, but considering their last lead single was Wolf Like Me i feel a bit...what's the word...disappointed?
a few dozen?
sweet jebus
after 4 or 5 listens i feel similiarly underwhelmed, but i reckon it could be saved by a top notch production job. It's difficult to tell if it's got one from the stream, i guess we'll have to wait until the release (lol, i mean leak lol)
i know
i just had the page open for about an hour. Silly i guess.
Sounds great, I think.
I only liked the first track on that last album.
I just realised I kept this page open and wasn't aware that it was ending and starting again,
seems like a never ending song.
the whole album
is great!!! Quelle surprise!
I'm gay for TVOTR
and 1st listen sounds good. Not convinced its good enough to gain a wider audience – something they deserve more than most.
Fingers crossed I'm wrong!
I haven't heard this but I can't wait for the album
Cookie Mountain was nothing short of a sensational piece of work.
glad someone else
isn't buying into this circle jerk bullshit.
..
i really don't like it. and i really want to.
: (
yeah,
this is really really good. excited.
My mate literally phoned me
just as Zane Lowe was playing it last night. Very frustrating Will not be buying him a drink tonight.
Worth the wait though, this is awesome!
the emperor is naked!
what the hell is wrong with you all? this is actually really boring, come on! this is one of the few bad songs they've recorded.
Wow
someones been listening to Beck...
It's good, very upbeat,
but not brilliant. Might be a grower.
the album
is good.
Sorry but..
I like TVOTR but not enough to sit through Zane Lowe's arsekissfest, why didn't they give to Marc Riley to play.
i like them but this really isnt their best work
i must be honest i dont think sitek is a good producer. that yyy album only sounds good cos moulder saved it. hes a genius
i don't want to like this....
i'm not sure why i don't want to...(maybe it's cause i'm a dick)
but it's fuckin great.
yay for good music.
someone pass me some dancin' shoes
Just downloaded this
legally of course. When I heard the stream of it I was a bit disappointed but in full(ish) MP3 glory it sounds massive, I love it. The only criticism might be that they wear their influences too squarely on their sleeves for a band so renowned for their innovation.
