Watch: the new video from David Holmes
- Artists:
- David Holmes »
David Holmes will release his fourth studio LP proper - i.e. it's not a soundtrack - on September 8.
The Holy Pictures will be preceded by a single, 'I Heard Wonders', on August 25. Look out for a feature on the Irish musician in the coming weeks, and in the meantime here's the video for 'I Heard Wonders' - it features lyrics co-penned by Suicide's Martin Rev.
Catch Holmes live at the DiS-partnered Green Man Festival this weekend, preview here.
Best unexpected return
of the year?
I still listen to Let's Get Killed regularly. Bow Down to the Exit Sign & This Film's Crap (let's slash the seats, are also great lp's.
Can't wait for the lp.
Absolutely brilliant
Let's Get Killed is a masterpiece, but i was a bit underwhelemed by Bow Down To The Exit Sign if i'm honest. As above, really looking forward to the new LP.
the new LP
is really good, I think. It's really shoegaze in places.
That's good news Mike
He's also the holder of the 'best ever Essential Mix' by some distance.
_
ghastly video!
^ you think?
I'm nae digging it at all. I get the shoegazeyness but it lacks any bite. Bit disappointing me thinks.
That essential mix
is just stooooopidly good.
My only dissapointment with David Holmes is that I've seen him DJ about 4 times now and each time it's just been, meh.
I heard an interview somewhere where he said this whole lp is written about the death of his mother. not sure if she was into My Bloody Valentine and Chapterhouse, but I definitely think the shoegaze stuff works.
That last bit is a slightly misleading
non ? sure he's only DJ'ing at Greenman..
is he?
apologies.
PR sounded like he was playing live, although previous Green Man listings suggested DJing.
Whatever: he will be on site. Say hello.
I like its 'lack of punch'
weirdly.
you wouldn't want let's get killed pt II.
would you?
maybe he's gotta tambourine or something to
shake whilst plays records. It will probably improve his set.
That essential mix is astonishing.
Glad to hear something new [and good] from him. He is never worth seeing on the decks - he is infamously lazy with a crowd.
No
But too much of it sounds like the shite Primal Scream sledge out when they're on come down mode.
Admittedly, it's not awful but it's nae a patch on Bow Down..
