Calexico return in September with Carried To Dust

Joey Burns and John Convertino - aka Calexico - release their new album Carried To Dust on September 8.

Says the PR: "They have truly defined their distinctive musical territory, calling upon almost two decades of exploration and an ensemble of stellar musicians that must surely be the envy of bands throughout the world." Pretty decent then, eh? Yep, actually.

The album's released through City Slang, and Calexico tour as follows:

September
10 Dublin Tripod
11 Edinburgh Queens Hall
12 Oxford Academy
13 Sheffield Leadmill
14 Dorset End of the Road Festival

October
11 London Forum

me too

it had its moments but generally a bit meh. Leave the indie lads and get back to the mariachi.

...

Agreed. They sounded like The Eagles or Crowded House on the last album. MOR pap. It's begging for a classic 'return to form'. Still great live every time though.

That stuff

didn't sound quite so bad interspersed with older material on the Iron & Wine tour but as an album it was just too much, or little, or something...
