Bat for Lashes reveals her band for Radiohead supports
Mercury nominee, debut releaser of single via DiS, Radiohead's forthcoming support act Bat for Lashes writes a note to fans...
This just in...
"Hello fellow bat friends!
I hope this finds you all well. Sooo, I have been away for a very long time it feels, writing many songs, visiting the awe inspiring Joshua Tree desert, making films, living in Brooklyn - (soaking up amazing bands like Amazing Baby, Gang Gang Dance, Brightside, Moon and Moon, Lewis and Clarke, Caroline Weeks, Bon Iver) and getting rehearsed for the upcoming Radiohead tour. (ahhh!)
So i would like to introduce to you "The Blue Dreams", who will be my new and very magically talented backing band!
Carloine Weeks - flute, keys, autoharp, guitar, vocals, drum
Ben Christophers - Harp, Marxophone, pianochord, synths, guitar and phono-fiddle!
Katherine Mann (Quinta) - Violin, viola, clarinet, saw, marxophone, drum and vocals
Alex Thomas - Drums, electronic pads, percussion and timpanis
and i [Natasha Khan] will be playing piano, harpsichord, autoharp, percussion, bass and singing.
I have brought 4 new songs in to the live set, which have been arranged with much excitement and spontaneous need of dance routines! I am so proud and happy about how the new ones are shaping up and cant wait to continue recording the new album after the tour.
I hope to see some of you during June and July, and that you have a lovely summer peace out!

DiScuss: how do you think BFL will go down supporting Radiohead?
I think...
...that I own a Ben Christophers album. He released 'Spoonface', no?
Yes he did...
that was a great album - I think it was around 2002.
Ben Christopher is an absolute God
Really, he is.
I hope this doesn't affect the release of his 4th album... it probably will. Pah!
Still, should be interesting to see two of my favourite artists collaborating before my favourite artist plays.
"how do you think BFL will go down supporting Radiohead?"
Hmm...
Well I love Bat For Lashes, I think she's fab and I'm looking forward to seeing the new line up. Her music's not the most upbeat, but I'd like to think that most of the Radiohead crowd will a) already know/like her (like me, upon Thom Yorke's recommendation) or b) will receive her well.
As long as she gets the crowd going with the big numbers like "Priscilla", I'm sure it'll be great :D So excited about this, seeing BSP at the Natural History Museum the saturday before too!
i never understood why ben christophers never got famous
possibly the best British male singer songwriter of the last ten years.
Yes indeed
Fucking brilliant, he is. I prefer The Spaces in Between to Spoonface. I guess he has to feed himself somehow, similar to the way he was an extra guitarist in Easyworld (!) a few years back.
aww
I miss her old band.
;o) x
I'm also a fully paid-up
member of the Ben Christophers fan club. With so much love for him apparent from these comments, it's a wonder he was never a bigger star.
this is basically a whole new band then?
i thought the three other girls in the band were the Rest Of The Band
nope.
she is bat for lashes.
They
were very, very good at Oxford last night, despite a couple of moments of ring-rustiness. If the new songs are anything to go by (darker, moodier, more percussion based) then the new album will be something special.
And yes - Natasha has alays said that she intended to switch around the personnel with every album to keep things fresh. Caroline Weekes is the only constant member along with Natasha.
What did everyone else think?
