Real or Onion? We can't decide but with the iPod touch (known as the iTouchMyself in certain circles) causing a storm, these digital decks may soon be set to come to a grotty indie club near you.
The advances from the humble Jamaican sound clash to Brooklyn Block Parties to CD decks with Nu Rave kidz using all the special effects clearly isn't enough and soon... well, just watch the video and you'll see:

These decks are currently in development by Scott Hobbs and you can read more about it here.
It's much more likely to catch on than Wiijaying, which is bound to gain a hacked Gameboy-like Nintendo nerd following...

In the meantime, if anyone would like to send us a Pacemaker we'd be much obliged.
DiScuss: What's the stupidest thing you've ever seen concocted to DJ? Other predictions for dancefloor machines of the future? My money's on a Last.FM-powered silent disco which then moves you like a Ouija board to your most compatible fellow pill head. In time this will lead to a whole new hack to help you find the dirty girls hidden away in the corner dancing to Arab Strap and Nine Inch Nails...

First impressions: Beck Modern Guilt
distinctly unimpressed by that thing
it didnt even sound very good
Thing is...
For about £500 more than a pair of CDJ1000s and a mixer, you can do pretty much the exact same thing with a pair of Jazzmutant Lemurs and a laptop.
thats pretty snazz
but that bloke is a pile of cack.
I havent moved on from records yet
I might start going backwards instead of moving onto mp3s and CD's... can you mix with 8-tracks or them cylinders?
How much for the twat in the coat?
I would pay to smash his shitty fingers.
I'm sticking with the records.
Now a Dj can add all sorts of special effects on Ableton or whatever, but doesn't have to be a discerning music selector as they can just download loads of tracks and throw away the ones they don't want. Being able to access thousands of tracks at the touch of a button reduces the quality of a DJ becuase the selection process has been removed. If you have to spend £6-7 quid on a record you've got to be sure that you want it- you've got to hunt it down too. Is it really a good thing that anyone can be a DJ now?
