Shit magnet: V Festival announces new acts
For those harbouring suspicions that Calvin Harris and Sam Sparro are one and the same person, there are signs that the dilemma could be resolved this summer as V Festival look to get them both into the same room, at the same time.
Elsewhere, chart-topping trans-Atlantic tramp Estelle* has also been confirmed for the event, as well as Captain and *The Presets. Actually we don’t think Estelle’s a tramp. We’d take her over any of these other acts in a heartbeat.
Just so you know, like – V runs over the 16th and 17th of August at twin sites in Chelmsford and Staffordshire. Ticket details are here.
One thing you do have to give to V is that at least its exclusivity contracts prevent the bands it books from playing other festivals, (or just Reading/Leeds). Like a massive shit magnet.

when are we getting mroe Reading lineups?
Say what you like about V
I've been a couple of times, and it's a decent festival. A good introduction to festivals, if nothing else.
And this year, there's Muse, making it all worthwhile.
I'll see you down the front yeah?
Girls Aloud
Worth the entrance fee alone.
And no, that's not sarcasm, I genuinely am excited about seeing Cheryl, Sarah, Nadine, Kimberley and the other one playing the main stage at V.
wah
go on then blud
Anything involving...
...that beardy twat Brandson should be BOMBED.
no, no you won't
its shite, you'll be there on your own.
Agreed
It's only music snobs and metal(knuckle) heads showing so much hatred.
It's different music to that which you're used to/prefer. Get used to it already and stop crying.
where is the metalhead hatred?
I'm pretty sure this festival has never involved any metal so there'd be no feelings of change, disappointment or hatred from those fans. I think the most reaction you'd get from a metaller regarding V is a shoulder shrug.
I just
liked the headline........ I'm still laughing.
.
a lot of metal fans I know of absolutely hate any other forms of music, especially chart/pop/indie music although I admit this snobbery does extend to fans of other genres. It's just that I've found that particular one seems to be the worst.
Ask a metaller about V/Kooks/Stereophonics, and see how much froth escapes from his mouth while he explains how 'shit' they are is.
exclusivity contract=
big fee
Radiohead
played V festival
ignore that one, won't you.
And
Pixies. Who conveniently managed to TOTALLY ESCAPE mainstream media coverage of the festival despite being, you know, pretty high up the bill and stuff.
^ this
To be fair I've always had a good time at V. I didn't get to see KOL or The Verve at Glasto but they're also at V so thats a result.
