First acts 'confirmed' for Glastonbury
- Artists:
- Hot Chip »
- Neil Diamond »
We’re not sure whether to believe this or not, but Q are reporting that Neil Diamond and Hot Chip are the first odd couple to be confirmed for this year’s Glastonbury festival.
The event, set to run from Friday the 27th ‘til Sunday the 29th of June at Worthy Farm in Somerset, will apparently see Diamond playing the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday while the magazine’s website is claiming that Hot Chip will appear at some indeterminate stage.
The laborious ticket registration process will commence tomorrow, Friday the 1st of February, and the image of festival organisers throwing out these two acts as a lure gives more credence to the reports we suppose.

The Twilight Sad: bright horizons follow fifteen winters
There has been a Leftfield event organised in Liverpool featuring a few bands that will be playing
the Leftfield tent at the festival. The money from the gig is going to some anti-slavery charity I think.
The lineup is The Seal Cub Clubbing Club, Elle S'Appelle, The Rascals, Married To The Sea and Daisy Riots so I'd guess that they are the first definate definate acts for this year.
..
british sea power are a definite.
it wouldn't take a genius to predict a band like hot chip
big popular semi-mainstream UK band in glastonbury shocker...
Oh dear,
anyone up for V instead then?
Neil
Diamond....my oh my.
uuuuuhh
I'm not so sure I can endure another Glastonbury ordeal, it feels like each year it's getting harder to justify...
..
I'd like to know whose playing BEFORE I buy a ticket. Quite fancy going at some point, but if I bought a ticket and the line up was as pathetic as last year I'd be furious.
As for Neil Diamnd, his last album was really good. honestly. Rick Rubin produced it.
Marvellous if true...
Everyone should be refreshed enough by Sunday eve to enjoy bellowing along to Sweet Caroline, shurely... Hot Chip are a shoo-in, but reassuring to know they will (probably) be there, unlike the unforgivable absence of LCD last year. I ended up dancing to Steve (bless him) Hillage on Saturday night, ferchrissakes...
safe
It'll be another case of "safe" artists for safe middle-class 30-somethings to enjoy...
That was crap missing out LCD
However the time before, hardly anyone was dancing, just standing around. I got evil looks for having the cheek to actually wanting to dance to LCD. Stoopid hippies. !!! were excellent last year though.
See they are really delivering on the
"attracting more young people" thing.
:/
how rubbish!
reading and leads festival it is then :)
