Not-so-Giant Drag: LA duo halved

The drums and keys half of LA-based rock duo Giant Drag, Micah Calabrese, has left the band. MTV.com reports that no reasons for his departure have yet been specified.

Calabrese's decision to quit Giant Drag leaves his former partner in pop-rocking crime, Annie Hardy, as "the writer and face of Giant Drag", in the words of their label. The group's MySpace page (link) currently lists the band's members as Hardy and "whoever else feels like doing it".

Apparently Giant Drag are working on new material. We figure it'll be as potty-mouthed as Hardy's little sweary spot on the last Deftones LP. Nice?

interesting...

I'm guessing it'll take more than one person to replace him... Giant Drag as a full(ish) band, then?

Love love love

That wasn't it.

Evidently.

Yes

I like them, anyway.

i saw them at dour

they were terrible.

troy van balthazaar was on before them and was SO much better.

I don't think

this is the first time Micah has left. Shame though.

Me too

Enough though I gave the album a 7... probably worth an 8 or 9 in hindsight.

not the first time

Micah did leave about a year after giant drag started getting going, and some guy filled in on a few tours then, and on the lemona EP I believe, Micah comes back then goes again. SHAME
I just feel a bit sorry for annie to be fair, I bet she just cant be arsed with drummers no more... whos to blame her though, what a pianointhebum.

Annie Hardy

pretty much ruined the Deftones album. Boo!

hmmmm

really not bothered

saw them earlier this year (i think) supporting the cribs and god they were shite

gutting.

micah was the coolest drumming keyboardist ever. and a very gentlemanly dude too.

oh well. i hope giant drag just get better and better then.

!

That track on the Deftones album is my fav on the album. The Giant Drag album is great too...

Hearts and Unicorns

is brilliant. This is bad news.

Fuck, fuck, fuck

This just makes my '06 complete. Finally a band that I was really into...and they vaporize on me. I blame Chris Isaak. No, really. Somehow this is all his fault.

Oooh...

dang i liked Micah he was lovely...

Maybe it was the spitting that got to him.

His simultaneous drum and synth action

was extremely wise. It will be missed.
