DiS Tours: Saddle Creekers Azure Ray in February!

In our further attempts to recommend the very best new music - which is very often hidden away in dusty corners until some clever bugger slaps them on the frontpage of their magazine - we've teamed up with Riverman and Mean Fiddler to bring you a wonderful female twosome...

Two girls; Orenda Fink and Maria Taylor. With their fourth album 'Hold on Love' (which featured in our albums of 2003) they truly mesmerized us, contrasting warmth with haunting soundscapes as they crossed from romantic to tear-jerking in the flutter of an eyelash. They're signed to probably the most respected label in the world right now, Omaha's, Saddle Creek, home to the likes of Shortlist Prize nominee Bright Eyes, plus The Faint, Rilo Kiley, Desaparecidos, Cursive and many more. They are Azure Ray and they're coming our way...

is this really true? the previous 2 articles contained info on evanescence and 100reasons, not exactly 'hidden away'...

Evanescence is hardly 'new' or, for that matter 'music'. Anyway, I don't think DiS meant the news articles.

Why the fuck aint the tour comming to Cardiff. What are DiS a bunch of racists? Oh yes you might venture from your safe-scenester-bubble that is London once in a while, and even going to Scotland..Wow! You guys really are adventurous! So how come you wont come to Wales (no cheap sheep jokes please)? What you cant be bothered? It never crossed your minds? Or are all of the promoters in Wales shit heads?

Re: DiS Tours: Saddle Creekers Azure Ray in February!

As I don't know your name, I will address as general. Sure, a lot of the DiS tours don't hit a lot of towns (my little corner of the world has been missed to date) so do a bit of DIY promotion, try and bring those bands to towns near you. If you want any help ask anyone of the guys who promotes for DiS and they will assist if they can. This is THE year for change, instead of bitching about it, do something!!!!

Re: DiS Tours: Saddle Creekers Azure Ray in February!

For future refference or to anybody who wants to slag me personally my name is Scott. I did not mean to bitch its just...well alright I did. I heed your advice and sensible advice it is too.

Re: DiS Tours: Saddle Creekers Azure Ray in February!

We ran a night in Cardiff for at least 4months and several of our tours have been there.

As we don't book these tours, merely help to spread the word about the ones we really like, we don't have much, if any say in where the shows go. Plus, a lot of the time it comes down to local promoters, date availability and how long a band is in the country (if you like Azure Ray are here from America for a week)

Starting your own night is a much better solution than moaning at us...

Re: DiS Tours: Saddle Creekers Azure Ray in February!

DiS didn't even exist when their first album came out and considering they're from America, therefore they're new to this country and we believe more people should know about them.
Maybe we just shouldn't bother, eh? C'mon, quitcha moaning and go post about stuff you like, rather than constantly picking goddarn holes...

Re: DiS Tours: Saddle Creekers Azure Ray in February!

That is because if we only wrote about new bands:
a) no-one would be very interested, meaning no readers, meaning no-one to champion new music to.
b) our news wouldn't be very 'news'-worthy
c) and bands like hundred reasons wouldn't be written about on the eltist flawed grounds that they're not new (even tho we did write quite a bit about them when they were new, so nur!)

Any of the following bands would be fabulous as support (for the Birmingham date at least)... Death Cab for Cutie / Postal Service / Ben Gibbard (a little ambitious??)... The Stills... Caretaker... Carina Round... The International Karate Plus... Projekt A-Ko... Intentions of an Asteroid... Fickle Public...

or ANY of the Saddle Creek bands... it's such an amazing label.

If you want local bands... try Seven Cycles, Kinaro, 35 Seconds or the mighty X is Greater than Y

Re: DiS Tours: Saddle Creekers Azure Ray in February!

1: I love Azure Ray.
2: I apologise for writing about Evanescence.

There.

Re: DiS Tours: Saddle Creekers Azure Ray in February!

OK...OK! I have just moved back to Cardiff and it just seemed that nothin good was going on here, thats all. Hey c'mon I wasnt moaning at you guys, just a bit of friendly banter...you know. I think you guys are doing a great job, no matter what I may sometimes write, its just cos I'm jealous that I didnt think of it!

were is dis based?

Re: DiS Tours: Saddle Creekers Azure Ray in Februa

The head of DiS and some of the most active writers are in London but the point was to try and get away from being a London based site. Writers, contributers and promoters of the site are all over the country.
