DiS caught Of Montreal in Manchester last night, and if there's a more fun live band currently doing the circuit then we're certainly yet to witness them. As you'll see, colourful doesn't even begin to cover it.
The crucial thing, though, is that Barnes and co. have tunes good enough to match the ridiculously over-the-top stage show. It's, like, The Beatles vs Queen vs performance art - or so our notes tell us! One thing is for sure: their set - split between latest release Skeletal Lamping and its predecessor Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? - left only mile-wide smiles on the faces, and thoughts of the coming festival season... in a just world, this band would be headlining one of Glastonbury's multitude of stages come June. We can but dream...

best concert ever
ending on a smells like teen spririt was an awesome!
The lead singer (cant recall his name) got shaving cream on me.
DIS should lighten up also.
Not many bands play that song live and pull it off so well.
The crowd went wild and that really is all that mattered.
I agree with the above.
A full on, balls out, ridiculously rockin' and fun cover just felt like the obvious culmination of all the momentum they'd gathered throughout the set. Under normal circumstances or with any other band it could certainly seem a bit trite but in the context I think it felt like a very fitting (and downright fun) end to the show.
Oh and also...
The show was literally the craziest, most smile-inducing thing I'd ever seen on a stage. The little suprise during the chorus of the last (main set) song was inspired.
I saw them in Glasgow
and I liked the cover of Teen Spirit, but they also did a cover of Franz Ferdinand's Take Me Out as the second last song, and that was fantastic, although I think they should have just ended on that and not bothered with both.

it was fantastic.
NIce pictures of a trully awesome gig
but some things the camera cannot tell, like the wicked smiles Kevin Barnes throws when you respond to his prompts, and
looking up at the stage and around at fellow dancers it was like actually being 'in' the best video you've ever seen

Great gig
I missed most of the Casiokids due to traffic problems getting there from Leeds, but I loved of Montreal, great to see a bit of theatrics in a show for a change. I thought the covers were ok, an enjoyable way to end, and the crowd certainly seemed to appreciate them!
Great photos too, none of the ninjas though? I was quite surprised when one of the little ones squeezed past me half way back in the crowd to dance with some people near me, not as surprised as them though!
He grabbed me from behind...
...and kinda freaked me out. I was just turning round to see what this dude's deal was when suddenly he danced past me and... NINJA!

I totally forgot to tell an amazing story about the show!
So, me and my friend are looking at the set times on the wall (Casio Kids: 8.30 etc) and she says "Curfew? Who are they? And why are they playing so late?"
It was only a split second before she realised what she'd said, but what a glorious second it was...
you must've been standing pretty close to where I was
cuz the lady ninja was dancing just to the right of me.
It was a great great show. Good photos as well!
At first i thought the venue was a tad too small for them, but it was actually really great - quite 'intimate' in every sense.
The Glasgow show was AMAZING, apart from
the cheap-shot, fascimile covers finishing the set (fasciimile covers of passe songs at that!)

it was fucking amazing, i don't think is topped dancing or smiling the whole time (apart form the numerous trips to the bar, more reasons why such a small venue is amazing).
I was totally underwhelmed by the SLTS cover but think that they did it well i just think they should have played The Past Is A Grotesque Animal last instead.
That aside best gig i've seen for moons and moons... i agree Re the festival season, i thought they would be at Reading last year and then they didn't play... maybe chuck em on at whatever curious glade of madness Glastonbury throws at us this year..
