Shelvey goes mental. scores 6. 8 own goals. no assists
Chumps league starts tonight. EXCITED

Swansea played some lovely stuff in the last 15 minutes, Liverpool completely lost control when Coutinho went off.
Do respect him for not wanting just to warm the bench for us. He needs game time to stop making rash mistakes and to mature.
Not going to begrudge a draw away at Swansea. Although bit concerned about how much we dropped after Coutinho went off and Sturridge got leggy. Were pretty bereft after that.
Moses looked pretty tasty. Didn't think much of Sakho. Skrtel made a couple of belting last-ditchers. Jury's still out on Wisdom.
10 points from those first 4 games is above par for sure. Think 7/8 would've been acceptable so can't complain.
for Middlesbrough. Finally accepted that I'm too fat for my new size samll shirt last night. Don't know if I'm too embarassed to ask them to change it though.
I know people went a bit overboard with the Welsh Xavi shite a season or two ago, but he really is just about the tidiest footballer in the country. Pozuelo also looked very good on the ball when he came on. Get the impression Sakho's going to be a bit of a Dunnealdinho; veering from moments of brilliant defending to hoofing them in his own net for no reason at all.
Still struggling to work out why United (with just about the best home record in European football) are 4/5 at home to a very average Leverkusen side who've won about 4 of 30 away in the competition. Definite money maker there.
If City play anywhere near their best they ought to beat Plzen. If they play as they have been doing they'll lose. Bit uneasy with everyone assuming Plzen are a bunch of chumps. Watched a bit of them over the weekend, they're a reasonable side, though there's absolutely no chance on earth Chelsea, United or Arsenal would go there and not win. Got a bad feeling we're going to rush Kompany back too soon.
dull day news-wise
In which case people really did go overboard.
But all of them were to Daniel Agger.
I'm tempted by tonight's game, but i have so much to do and it's so cold, so may back out...
Remember this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWBbYhrizsM
from half 5 for pre match beers. I'll be the one who's shirt looks like it has been painted on. Like the girls on page 3 of the sun on cup final day but much less sexy.
So funny hearing the occasional media trained soundbite pop out amidst the mumbling embarrassment. I really like him now.
Seemed to have an extra second of hang time in the air, so he did. Not sure how he did it.
Given that their reserves probably should have beaten us in the cup, I suspect we're in for a tough evening.
poor lad. feel a bit sorry for him.
Leon Britton completed more attacking third passes than Gerrard last night. Probably mainly because Gerard spent most of the second hoofing balls back to Swansea from his own half but there you go. Get him on the plane etc etc.
Though the way he left us left a bitter taste, I just can't hate the man for everything he has done for the club. It doesn't look like he has much more time left at Bolton, are the fans turning against him?
He won 3 in 29 at Palace, before that little run of 8 unbeaten before he left. His run can't be as bad as that at Bolton yet, so I hope they stick by him a little longer.
We need more horseshoe bald footballers in the game...
Also loved Puyols header v Germany in 2010
Mainly because of CR7's reaction, but also because:
1. Nani was onside; and
2. the ball was arguably over the line anyway.
Januzaj getting game time, impressive? Off to City? Was Fellaini up front on his own when he came on on Saturday?
You know the one.
how many pairs of socks do you wear when playing football?
always two for me. one normal, one football. just seems right, you know
(this is a vintage serie a diving header from outside of the box, chums)
though can understand two depending on if your boots are a bit too big, like
According to Danny Higginbotham this was the "most bizarre" thing he's ever seen on a football pitch. He's obviously never seen himself play.
Remember doing a completely involuntary punch of the air when that went in.
Have you seen any of the highlights of Manchester United vs Palace, yet?
David Speedie vs Newcastle
On paper 2-0 with a pen and a FK leads me to suggest it was pretty turgid with us unable to break you down in open play but not having any worries about you going forward, accurate?
the football is dire and there is clearly some internal unrest. Hauling off his captain after 60minutes isn't going to build bridges, and i fear he has lost the dressing room somewhat. We are awful defensively and toothless going forward, league one symptoms which Dougie simply hasn't addressed well (in the case of the former, at all). Can't blame the fans for being annoyed. It's not quite 3 in 29 bad but you cannot blame people for being disappointed by our form at all.
whereas Swansea took off a striker and put on a midfielder.
Numbers in midfield. Simple
I thought we were doing quite well keeping you out, early on Evra went down easily and appealed a penalty, it rightly wasn't given.
Ashley Young then kicked Dikgacio's leg in the penalty and dived, Young rightly booked.
Then right on the stroke of half time, Young went down with minimal contact, you get a penalty, and Dikgacio gets sent off as the referee judged it was in the area, and it was the last man, or a clear goal scoring opportunity.
I'll let you judge whether that was right or not.
I thought you looked pretty poor generally, but Januzag and Felliani looked decent when they came on.
I'm still annoyed over the penalty decision and considering we played with 10 men for the whole second half and were only beaten by a dodgy penalty and a free kick, I'm pleased with our performance. We only had one shot I think, but to be honest I was expecting you to destroy us considering both our right backs are injured.
Oh, and Rooney blew kisses when he scored. I guess to his family rather than the fans?
And I hope you had a good holiday, by the photos on Facebook looks like you did.
Really pleased with Moyes comments after the match, Young is a fucking shithouse of a footballer as well as being a cheating prick which makes it a lot harder to forgive obviously.
From that still it looks like a pretty dreadful penalty decision as well, tough breaks.
Kuyt played maybe the only decent cross of his career and Nando just planted it in all casual. Beautiful.
don't like the feeling of football sock directly on foot. it chafes, maaaaan
over who's bestest out of Scholes, Lampard and Gerrard. Needed something to break up their back-slappy banter club.
also carroll v sweden
Sorry that's all I've got lads.
dont want to put gerrard in there.
A few of the Chester fans spoke to him afterwards and he seemed to intimate that it wasn't the accident he made out to the police. One Chester fan went for him in the car park and got a black eye for his troubles.
It's Macclesfield v Chester tonight which is a huge game for both clubs. We're both as crap as each other at the moment so the winner of this one might marginally have a better chance of avoiding relegation. I'd use the phrase 6 pointer but I don't know what it means.
Best game of the league so far, and that’s not even saying much.
Against Stoke and Villa we didn’t play one single long kick out from goal. Against United and Swansea we only played them, and every time we lost possession due to lack of height / strength in our team up front. I’m surprised every team doesn’t do the same thing against us, because it always, always works.
Memory prompted by the Letchkov mention upthread, I’ll be extremely impressed if anyone can beat Trifon Ivanov.
He’s quite possibly what Google Images was invented for.
figure a bit like if you put me in a newcastle shirt
in every photo he looks like he's had a fight and spent the night in the cells.
at his pomp, the best English midfielder, for sure, but his pomp was about ten years ago, and people dwell on throwaway comments by Zidane and Xavi a bit too much.
the last four years of his career was basically him kicking people, falling over, scoring the odd goal against Hull or Norwich, and generally stealing his £125k or so a week wages.
it's all a bit Gundogan Fanclub, innit, though yeah, he's the best of those three. Personally i'd rate Lampard above Gerrard, but not one to really argue about.
People were never this creamy about Scholes when he was actually at his best.
Us (Aldershot) and Barnet have both made strong starts to the season, we'd be not far behind them if we weren't so silly with money. On the other hand it's Aldershot v Barnet, scrappy 1-0 it is.
he looks horrendous in every photo:
As well as a really rubbish game. Macc's story for the season seems to be settled already. Ok in possession, no one able to put chances away or be the target for crosses, and terrible at defending set pieces.
serious though, someone should run some NFL commentary over that
Shit defending, shitter finishing.
He was actually a very, very good footballer given how absurdly unfit he was, but I bet he was even better company in the pub after the match.
and get instantly smashed on the counter.
but i bet he smoked and STILL smokes about 45 fags a day. great eye bags.
Then out of nowhere he'd have an anecdote about the time the Bulgarian Prime Minister's wife gave him a blow job in the back seat of a taxi on his way to a match.
And when they got pulled over by the police he'd told them his name was Hristo Stoichkov.
The first thing he did with us was sort out our defence and then worrying about attacking later, which clicked with our 8 game run.
Who knows what would have happened if he had stayed, but we were playing such good football (finally) I think we would have gone up automatically.
to be fair on the guy
One that'll make Loui_T weep for days.
Coach Bombay will be happy with that.
mind you it only delays the inevitable pummelling we'll get from wigan later on in the season.
is DDG, Smalling, Rio, Vidic, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Fellaini, Rooney, Kagawa and RVP.
Strongest possible line-up with Rafael and Nani not available I'd say though maybe would have liked to see Fabio keep his place.
Champions League bets tonight....a PSG, Benfica, Bayern treble gets you 5/1.
Have also gone Bayern, United, Plzen, Blackpool, Derby - 87/1
Kompany rushed back ahead of the Derby [./]
Kolarov in [./]
Dzeko in [./]
Flat, idealess 4-4-2 [./]
A win [x]
and the lion-clawed noble savagery of a gryphon
with my free bet
£10 City, Bayern and benfica treble
£10 Utd, Real madrid double
with tattered kit, a straggly teenage beard and using his arms/hands to protect his eyes from the harsh stadium light.
Feeling confident. Went for the kik-recommended home win.
bet he doesn't even lift
Leon Britton could no longer be the Welsh Xavi because Xavi himself would be the Welsh Xavi?
if all the man u 'fans' are to be believed
Used to recreate it all the time in the living room by throwing the ball against the wall to set up the diving header:
Not a hope in hell of winning this.
Just changed channel briefly to see United scoring an offside goal where the keeper was clearly fouled, and van Persie rubbing his head into the referee's. Standard.
(this week norwich and villa)
how many goals do united score that arent really soft/illegitimate?
no-one had any doubts about his ability at the time of the transfer, but it is a lot.
not just that, but all in (LOLZ), £90m, a big risk. it's paying off, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a big risk.
Kompany and Nastasic at the back, and put us up against not quite at it opponents, we suddenly look like a football team again
If he'd had one of his long injury lay-offs again it might have looked a bit silly
fucken wank, probably fair revenge for last season's smash'n'grab tho
UEFA Need to clamp down on Laser pens being allowed into games, but how can they? The majority of these Laser pens are no bigger than a standard pen and guard dogs Cannot Possibly Detect them at the turnstiles
fine the clubs for it and hope they crack down.
man united have been very impressive tonight
what a team!
Maybe FIFA should get involved if UEFA can't handle the crackdown
with xray vision and inbuilt angle grinder that can clamp down on this type of thing
United's is almost as bad as Real's comic sans effort.
Steve Stone hasn't got shit on that!
whole team have been reading the thread
So why can't they work out a way to put deflectors up in stadiums to banish the Laser rays into the sky? (might be an issue with air space, but maybe then into the ground?) I remember in school we did a trick with prisms so you could deflect the light so I know it is possible small scale but surely if you suspended a larger prism in the centre circle this would do the trick? I am not a scientist so don't know the exact detail but seems like so,etching they (FIFA) could work on for potentially season 2015/16
if he gets over his fortnightly injury thing, he could be a real joy to watch again.
confident tony is my favourite player, everyone who wrote him off after one bad season should feel bad. if kagawa is that bad in training then fair enough david. rio scared me many many times.
amazing how different a side City are when Yaya Toure can be arsed. there isn't a midfielder in world football who can take a game by the scruff of the neck like he can at his best. sadly, in 90% of our games he just shrugs a lot and passes sideways. admittedly, taking games by the scruff of the neck is a bit easier against sides from the Czech Republic than top Premier League teams, but he's bullied plenty of them in his time as well.
still not sure we'll make it out of the group. we might have to win in Moscow, but very happy with the result and performance.
He was quality tonight, Smalling looking good too. Fellaini worked well alongside Carrick and Rooney and RVP look like they could work really well together.
United fans shouldn't be letting players shit in their faces like that.
nah i like wolves really
Why should they care
I agree could not have been happier to see him smash the 4th.
Bar a couple lapses in defensive concentration thought we played really well tonight especially Rooney and Valencia.
but i've always maintained he was treated pretty shit by fergie last year.
Fancy a wee cheeky beer in bed watch it ;(
play the existing one out of position for a year, then freeze him out of the club so he spends the summer asking to leave' tactic.
there was so much shite talked last year that opposition teams had "worked him out", how do you work out someone shredding his full back and firing a cross in? it's always been the same with monty panesar, they're both very very good players who will go through injuries and patches of bad form like any other.
but given we were 3-1 up it's a bit of a disappointment, especially seems up until tonight we've defended well. Noticed there was another Aldershot fan on here whilst lurking, do they still post?
Man Utd get a brilliant striker who is 29 years old with a history of numerous injuries.
Arsenal not really able to command higher due to these reasons as well as the fact he was on the last year of his contract and openly expressed a desire to leave.
All but confirmed he wants out, like, but we knew that already.
actually, you ARE an aldershot fan, right? or are they the local club you like to patronise while supporting a top 6 juggercunt
Hope Jonny Evans isn't watching this!!!
they're the only team for me. Although the occasional trip to patronise Fleet Town doesn't go amiss.
water off a duck's arse bruv
quite enjoyed aldershot's meteoric rise. partially because the goalkeeping coach employed by my school was none other than aldershot's reserve keeper and grizzle-haired character richie barnard. nice chap tbh. hell of a shot on him. guess even the conference reserve keepers do tho
all gone a bit to pot of late mind. Just about remember Barnard, wasn't with us long if I remember right. Came across a lot of our reserves etc. having played for some of the youth teams, it's amazing how even they're a huge step up from sunday league level.
rather than shoot
virtually impossible to save if it wasn't straight at you
