what's a reasonable distance to walk to work?
been offered a new job that's three miles from my house. not driving at the minute, and it's a bit hard to get to via public transport.
the internet says 15 minutes a mile's about right for a good powerwalk. i'm not really a victim like that, so i've asked my neighbour, who runs a local walking club (one o' the best, apparently). he says a person of average fitness (e.g me) should walk three miles in around 75 minutes (aka 25 minutes a mile).
that's 2.5 hours of walking, every day. that's a bit too much, isn't it? i think it is anyway, but i thought i'd start this thread so the needy melts on here could claim it's nothing and they cycle 40 miles each way every day.
clearly, i'm too important to cycle, so it looks like i might have to taxi it, but was thinking it might be nice to walk during the summer and that, plus, i'm a zero exercise sort of guy, so a bit of walking might be a starting point to getting back into the habit of gyming it (paying some company £40 a month to let me use their spa once a week).
