NFL WEEK 9 THREAD; DOOMSDAY
So this week offically marks the half way mark of the season. Which is pretty mad, but it is what it is. We now know more than when we started and in some cases, less. Here's my week 9 preview:
There's a lot of crackers this week, and the lack of consistency from anyone not named Pittsburgh or Green Bay means alot of these could go anywhere.
In theory, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Kansas, New Orleans, San Fran, SHOULD all have easy wins, but non of them are really gaurenteed (except maybe KC vs Miami)
There are a lot of games that are genuinely impossible to call:
Jets/Bills, Denver/Oakland, Cincy/Tennessee and though less prevalent Cards/Rams could all literally go either way, and probably will, several times.
The obvious highlights of the weekend:
Giants/Pats - really exciting Matchup, Pats coming off a dissaointing loss and the Giants from a big comeback. Also obviously the repeat of Superbowl XLII, which is still considered by some (myself included) as one of, if not the, greatest SB ever. I doubt this one will be as cagey, given the offensive power in these teams, but it won't be any less entertaining. (Shame on Sky for not playing this one tbh, I know I complain about the North-East bias but it genuinely does have the best teams right now)
Packers/Chargers - At least Sky picked up the next best option, although the way the Bolts are playing, this might be a blow-out. The Charge have a wierd habit of showing up to games they have no place (well they do, but if you'll indulge me to the end of this sentence) and winning against big teams, only to lose to fucking Seattle the week after or whatever. Hopefully this will be the game it should be on paper, not the current form game.
skipping ahead to Monday for obvious reasons:
Eagles/Bears should be fun. Eagles finally working themselves out and remembering they were supposed to win it this year, Bears, despite multiple Jay Cutler/Alec Baldwin jokes are still hanging in there with a fighting chance. Should be an interesting game, but probably with an Eagles win.
and then there's the really huge one.
I've been hyping this game up quite a bit, but I do genuinely think this is the best rivalry in sports, and now that we've all settled down and at this current point in the season, all the more so. There is no chance of a repeat of week 1 (from either team) this will be far cagier. The Steel-men will be after revenge, and are certainly the form team going in, but they have potentially big injuries (Woodley gone for real) and that could benefit us if we expose them. similarly though, we are no safer, injuries or no, its gonna take one or two big performances.
I'm really really excited and can confirm I am definitely staying up for this one!
