'Hunger' by Knut Hamsun
amazing.
never before have i seen my see-saw emotions articulated so perfectly...
i'm not trying to pretend i'm bi-polar or anything, it's not like that....but i, like many i suspect, have that exact same thing where a change of light or the raise of an eyebrow could make or break your entire life....where an enjoyable article in the newspaper makes you think that god is on your side, or a few spits of rain conspire to convince you that life is just one cruel joke at your expense. (it might be an ego thing)
like, the other day i was on the bus and i saw four old italian looking fat guys, who looked like they'd been chums since youth, with their shirts almost completely undone in the summer heat...just strolling along, having a laugh, maybe off to the pub.
and this weired feeling of well-being started to rise up in me, from my feet to my head, until i almost want to cry or punch the air in triumph.....over some old fat guys. insane.
er...so.
anyone read it?
