'michael is easily distracted when he should be listening, and may make unhelpful comments'
(i just found some of my old school reports)
'michael can show a hard-working and creative attitude about his work, and this is the good side that michael needs to develop. unfortuanatly his self-control is limited and he is a disruptive element far too much' (year 2)
'michael is trying hard to take responsibility for his own actions. he does need to give his best to all areas to maintain, what is essentially, a very good standard. he is an intelligent painstaking member of class, but michael still has difficulty when working in a group. he finds it difficult not to be silly but is always repentant afterwards. on a one-on-one basis, and in adult company, he is much more mature' (year 3)
'michael can be a polite, considerate pupil. his report reflects an indifferent year, where he has been too easily led. michael needs to improve concentration levels and avoid day-dreaming. he has achieved excellent examination grades, reflecting his ability but this has not been matched by the required effort. michael does not acknowledge his successes and can be disruptive in class. michael has, on occassion, lacked tact with his peers, when he has undervalued their successes. he needs to adopt a more empathetic and respectful approach at times' (year 7)
and pretty much like that until i started acting all good in year 10. 'has potential but lacks effort and causes disruption', etc etc.
what they mean is, too fucking cool for school. if only i wasn't a little fatty, i would've been the archetypal teen heart-throb....too fast to live, etc etc.
'maths?...pff....give me something i can use in the real world baby'
what a guy.
