So why has divorce always been seen as such a bad thing anyway?
Is this a Creaky topic? I guess it is. I'm just wondering who it really benefited. It's clear that philandering was often tolerated in society and women weren't really allowed to work. Nor would they really be likely to ever let their children come to harm. I'm really just wondering about the rationale that makes the concept of people splitting up seem so wrong over the course of our history, why the church would particularly like the idea of people married.
