Free-Association Football
OK, let's see how arcane, how obscure, how joyous our collective football knowledge is.
With Youtube, memory and Google to the fore, we plunge into a history of heroism and comedy, of fluke, foul and fickle fortune.
I shall commence with a repost of my own contribution to tonight's Wednesday Football Thread...
Nothing was ever going to beat Figueroa this season, not even this.
Here's an even better hit than Rose's, from a once-touted player who's been Championship level for a few seasons now:

I mean that Harley's goal is in the same lineage as Rose's, rather than Figueroa's, which in turn is in the lineage of, I dunno, Erik Edman vs Liverpool or something. Laurent Robert, of course, could score either kind, as well as the occasional scorpion-kick. What a player.
Speaking of strikes, here's the greatest GOTM ever*. Dare to disagree. Features Thudd in excelsis, the 'next Jon Harley' Matty 'Rocket' Taylor, and Charlton's relegation being pretty much sealed

*the one with that aforementioned Edman goal weren't bad either, had rather tasty volleys from Rooney/Gerrard and a Safri marmaliser for Norwich vs Newcastle
...now, let tendrils unfurl, and neurons connect...
