The ups and downs of dating a 'creative' individual
This isn't hopefully as silly as it sounds, and I know the term 'creative' is a pretty loose paradigm (oo er) to work with.
But what I mean is: I and other friends have in the past gone out with people who, when asked what they do, will say poet, artist, musician and so on, regardless of what they actually have as a 9-5. *That* sort of person (see sweeping generalisation thread).
Highlights of the downsides for myself and other anecdotal offerings include:
* A need to spend every waking moment pushing their creativity on others, usually at the expense of even asking how their partner is.
* A distinct nasty bent when it comes to taking criticism of any sort, but a borderline-obscene reaction to even suggestions of mild tweaking to their own work.
* A realiance of referencing one or two obvious works of literature (how many times does someone need to talk about Fear and Loathing in LV before they read the superior Campaign Trail? Forever, you say?)
* A fiery need to criticize nearly all music, despite a clear lack of musical general knowledge.
* No money when asked for reimbursement, while playing mysteriously new-looking guitar.
* Bad trousers.
On the upside though, it's normally the sort of relationship that results in endless memoir-creating stories, and usually some awesome rough sex on a couch.
Bad thread, probably, but I'm bored as sin waiting for a guitar to arrive for review.
