FODBOLD (Monday football thread)
Andreas Isaakson's poor goalkeeping was the difference between Denmark and Sweden in a tightly competitive 90 minutes in Copenhagen this Saturday evening - a well struck 80th minute shot from Paulsen bouncing OVER his outstretched hands for the only goal of the game. Sweden had earlier put the ball in the Danish net twice but both times disallowed (and in both cases even the replays were inconclusive).
Sweden played fairly well, better than they have for a long time but the Danish defence was ultimately too strong, Daniel Agger playing out of his skin. Henke Larsson(38) should have been substituted for Marcus Berg much earlier in the game though.
What does all this mean? Well, it means that Sweden will not be at South Africa 2010... unless they get a result in Albania AND Malta beat Portugal, so they will not be at South Africa 2010.
Coach Lars Lagerbäck, who has taken Sweden to the last 5 major tournaments has announced that he will step down after the Albania match. About bloody time. (LOOK OUT NOTTS COUNTY)
So, probably some other stuff happened.
