The Wire Season 5
Just finished it.
Christ. It sucked worse than the last season of The Sopranos.
On the street side of things, it was all pretty tight and well plotted. Only thing I found curious is that the death of Prop Joe elicited little to no reaction from the police.
But that fake serial killer thing? That's the kind of retarded storyline someone writing for The Bill or Wire In The Blood or any one of the other interminable British dramas would have come up with. And don't even get me started on The Sun aspect. David Simon and his Mary Sue bullshit really wrecked any chance of meaningful insight into the media the show may have had there.
I've decided to delete season 5 from my memory. From now on, as far as I'm concerned, The Wire ends with the beautiful montage at the end of season 4. Just like, IMO, The Sopranos ends with Tony ruminating on the murders of Tony B and Adriana (season 5), and The Matrix ends with Neo flying away at the end of 1.
Can anyone think of any show from the last decade's 'golden era' which ended well?
