Me again. This is kind of cathartic right now.
England win, Rooney looks great in parts and psychotic in others.
Denmark win, I might have a team to cheer on at the next international football tournament for a change
Wales look ok in defeat
N Ireland threaten to attend the next World Cup thanks to the Slovenian keeper, Flappos Flappovic
Republic earn a draw against 10-man Italy, well done them
Closer to home - Saints board (all bar 1) to resign from Southampton Leisure Holdings at 10am today. Southampton Leisure Holdings themselves to go in to administration, but not the club itself. By the letter of the law, the club will therefore right now not incur any points penalty. SLH will have 21 days to find financial backing (which will be made all the easier by the face Rupert Lowe won't be there) or face insolvency. In that event, the club will almost certainly go in to administration and face the wrath of the FA.
I can see Saints becoming a bit of a hate figure if they get around the points deduction, noises from Forest and Plymouth make it sound like they are already pretty unhappy. Despite the fact, I might point out, that Derby have already done something similar in recent years. And I, of course, hope they take advantage of every opportunity to avoid disciplinary action.
Bizarrely from a Saints point of view, the fact that we go in to Saturday's game with everything that has happened could work in our favour. If the fans know that Lowe et al have gone, that will be a bigger boost than any surprise signing we could have made. It's already a sell-out, and whilst the future is at best uncertain Lowe going means there will be a party atmosphere. And, if we looked like we might be a Championship club next year, there might be more chance of attracting new buyers...
So, if Saints avoid a penalty right now, would you hate them?
