Tales of Football on a Wednesday
Arsenal move into the FA Cup Semi Finals and a tie with Chelsea as 2nd half goals from RVP and Billy Gallas give them a 2-1 win over Hull. All this after Nicky Barmby had given Hull an early lead. Phil Brown accuses Arsene Wenger and Cesc Fabregas of all sorts of stuff after the final whistle. I would love to let Premier League managers have a last man standing Royal Rumble. Honestly, they are all as bad as eachother. Even O’Neill is beginning to get on my wick. I would excuse Hiddink and Zola because I have yet to hear them bleat in a post match interview.
Reading get back to winning ways with a 1-0 win at Doncaster – Dave Kitson scoring his first goal of the season on his return to the Royals. Barnsley pick up 3 vital points with a 3-1 win over Palace, Giovani scores for Ipswich as they draw 1-1 with Burnley and Mikele Leigertwood’s goal gives QPR a 1-0 win over Swansea.
Millwall get a vital win at MK Dons in the race for the League 1 play offs. Scunthorpe also get a crucial win. Cheltenham pick up what will probably be 3 fruitless points in their battle against the drop, Crewe draw with Bristol Rovers whilst Swindon and Walsall both win 3-0 over Southend and Brighton respectively.
Bournemouth move further away from trouble in League 2 with a stonking 4-1 win over Bradford. Luton beat Grimsby 2-1. Ummm. Leaders Brentford lose at home to Chesterfield, Gillingham beat Notts County and Aldershot win at Rotherham. Darlington beat Lincoln and Accrington beat Port Vale.
Weymouth appear to have avoided administration with another takeover, about their 12th in the last 5 or 6 years. Hopefully the new owners will be prudent with money. Time will tell. They still lost 5-0 to Burton last night. Lewes and Northwich lose again whilst Kettering and Wrexham pick up wins in their pursuit of the play offs as do Cambridge and Histon.
Boreham Wood v Hendon is on Wednesday 15th April at Meadow Park. I will get the bus there and a lift home.
