Yossarian Benayoun gets the winner for Liverpool in the Bernabeu to give Liverpool a superb 1-0 win against Real Madrid. It's difficult to imagine them slipping up in the 2nd leg. Chelsea also win 1-0, this time at home to Juventus - Didier Drogba with the goal. The 2nd leg here is going to be pretty tough to call. In the other ties Panathanaikos draw 1-1 at Villareal and Bayern secure their place in the quarter finals early with a monumental 5-0 arse whopping of Sporting Lisbon.
In the FA Cup 5th round replay, Middlesbrough put on an impressive performance in beating West Ham 2-0.
Cardiff and QPR are goalless in the Championship whilst in League 2 Port Vale win 2-0 at Macclesfield.
As pointed out yesterday Darlington are the latest club to enter administration. They have been deducted 10 points and now lie 11th in League 2. They're still not altogether out of the running for a play off place though.
Jim Gannon, the former Stockport legend has held talks over the Brighton vacancy saying that his position at Edgeley Park had become untenable 6 months ago. He did a very good job there indeed and could turn out to be a shrewd appointment by the Seagulls.
Sheffield United sign lead singer of The View Jon-Joe O'Toole on loan from Watford.
UEFA Cup tonight. I have a feeling Spurs and Aston Villa are going to be struggling to make the last 16, I can see Man City comfortably beating FC Kobenhavn.
For some reason Hull and Sheffield United are playing their FA Cup replay tonight as well. I don't know why but Thursday night football makes me a bit queasy.
