Pictorial Chinese Whispers
I just started a facebook group to organise a massive (as large as possible) game of Pictorial Chinese Whispers (details below)
Here is teh facebook group
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=49950013541&ref=mf
or
http://icanhaz.com/chinesewhispers
I think it could be really cool.
Here follows the description of the group from facebook if you don't have facebook. To play in this case, just email pictorialchinesewhispers@googlemail.com telling me that you want to play. feel free to include your DiS username so that i can put a name to a face so to speak

We were bored at work today so someone showed us this game, and I thought it'd be much more fun with a lot more people.
in the original game:
player 1 describes something - a scene or an activity or an object or similar.
player 2 then draws what player 1 has described
player 3 doesn't see what player 1 wrote, but has to describe what player 2 has drawn
player 4 then draws what player 3 has decribed (but can't see what players 1 and two have done)
etc...
It's basically chinese whispers with pictures, and doable on a mass scale
So I thought it'd be fun to do on the internet. Please invite anyone you think might be interested to join this group and it can all be bigger and better.
To make it so that everyone gets to draw as well as describe, I'm going to have two games running in tandem. Don't worry, this doesn't make things complicated for you:
Essentially, your participation will be:
1) you join this group, and invite any friends that you think might be interested
2) you message me your email address
3) after a while (it could be days, or it could be months) you receive an email with a picture and a description.
4) you reply to the email with a description of the picture, and your own picture based on the description
5) in however long (perhaps a whole bunch of months) you sit back and admire the finished project, a slide show of images tenuously linked to eachother that could be very interesting or just a horrid mess. either way, it's just 10 minutes of your time to knock up a silly picture/incredible work of art on Paint or whatever...
More details...
*It will end when I feel like ending it. The whole thing could take a very long time indeed, if it takes off as well as I'd like it to. I'll announce on here when It has stopped, so until then feel free to submit your email addresses to be added to the chain.
*If someone submits a picture or description that has nothing to do with what they sent, I'll not use it. You can joke around with what you're given within reason, but just resetting it all with your new idea isn't going to wash with me, sonny.
*If someone doesn't reply to me within 3 days, I'll move onto the next person. So if you don't reply within 3 days, don't bother doing the picture or description - just email me if you want to be added to the list again. I'll be emailing from pictorialchinesewhispers@googlemail.com, so whitelist that address in your emails, or check your spam or whatever the cool kids are doing nowadays.
*I'd suggest you just use Paint or whatever equivalent it is that Macs use. If you don't have anything that you can draw with, I hear that http://www.getpaint.net/ is good. Feel free to hand draw and scan stuff, or use super design skillz. Or photography. Copying and pasting from photos from the internet and stuff is cool, but I'd prefer that it was used sparingly.
*For the sake of consistency I reckon we should all use .jpg files - Macs are cool with those aren't they?
*Yes, I want to use emails, so i can just forward the images and descriptions on, rather than faff around uploading them to some hosting site every time i get an entry. Sod that.
*If it turns out that someone else is doing something similar, let me know.
* Please keep the descriptions short - the longer your description, in most cases, the less freedom the next person has to interpret what you've written.
Any questions? Just ask on the group's wall. It should all be pretty simple for yous, surely?

so yeah: good idea or bad idea? any ideas on how to make it more appealing to people? any problems you see me running into?
i'm basically going to moderate it all myself, just using this googlemail address. practical?
cheers
