Wednesday Football Thread
Can we petition ht27's manager and impress upon them just how important it is that he is excused from work for 10 minutes each morning to start a football thread?
Anyway, Man Utd and Villareal manage to make it 6 hours of football against eachother without a goal, although in fairness neither of them really needed a win. The most excitement came from a fairly harsh sending off for Capdevila. Wayne Rooney has also apologised for diving. Cheers Wayne, but just stop doing it yeah? Arsen Wenger feels that his side's late show against Dynamo Kiev is just what they needed to put the past month or so behind them. Their weekend fixture will no doubt be a sterner test.
Elsewhere Celtic crumble and throw away a lead to go out of Europe altogether, whilst Juventus stifle Arshavin and Danny to send Zenit out of the Champions League. At least they'll get a chance to defend their UEFA Cut title...
Plenty of action in the Championship as Paulo Sousa gets his first win at QPR in a 2-1 victory over Charlton, both sides looking much better than recent form suggests they are. Wolves maintain their dominant position with a 3-1 win at Sheffield Utd, Cardiff are held 2-2 at home to Reading and the walls close further in around Colin Calderwood as Forest fail to get a win at Doncaster.
Drogba is being linked with a January move to Inter Milan, with some reports claiming a fee of around £15-20m being involved, others claiming Adriano will move the other way. Steve Bruce may turn to Reading's Kevin Doyle, knowing he is unlikely to hang on to loan star Amir Zaki, Arsenal and Spurs are both looking to resolve goalkeeping issues with £5m swoops for Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessey and all the usual rumours are flying around Manchester City.
