Just a Note.
This weekend gone, I was introduced to a rather interesting group of people. Let's call them "free spirits". And by this I mean: they don't have REAL jobs. They do, however, have jobs within their "community".
Now these individuals were ones of high intellect and very sociable manners; well travelled and held strong opinions and beliefs of their own, whilst being open to those of others.
You know the type.
It was very possibly one of the most comfortable environments I've ever been in. Until, that is, I realised they were raising children there. Being a mother, this made me uneasy. I can't quite put my finger on one definitive thing that made me feel uncomfortable with this. After all, the children are being raised in a loving environment, with many insightful, caring adults surrounding them.
It certainly threw up that age-old discussion about what life's best education is. I think it's crucial that you expose children to as many experiences as possible in life - knowledge is power etcetera.
And I would much rather be rich in life any day, than rich with power and money
But surely this environment is lacking in some way for raising children? I just don't know what it is and why I feel like that.
Opinions? Storys?
