Nick Griffinfths - The Results
I went to that BNP meeting I told you all about.
On arrival, I got some nasty stares. I thought 'God, they're all skinheads', but then on closer inspection realised that their politics probably had no reflection on this hairstyle, and most 'working class' people look like them. I was obviously going to get da evilz because I have a mop hair cut and wear skinnizjeenz. But anyway, I drifted in and they were playing all the best ska I've ever heard before hand. I even asked them what CD it was (not shit, white-man ska - Toots, Desmond Dekker, Symarip etc.) but this is off topic sorry.
It was a reeeeeeeally odd mix. There were wealthy old people there, southerners in suits and huge meaty bouncer types, as well as just your basic local pub types.
Anyway, the first half of it was boring. They were on about their success locally. They get loads and loads of smear campaigns against them, but they reckon voters are so plagued with leaflets they cancel eachother out.
Then Nick Griffin came in and talked. I expected a bit of 'risky' business, since he apparently tends to talk about national issues.
His initial focus was on the London success. He spoke about how their office in City Hall is the smallest one thanks to Ken. But apparently they're very well-liked by most people bar the Tories. He really doesn't like the Tories.
His major topic was about multiculturalism and how it doesn't work. He often spoke of the Liberal Left (which included the Conservatives) and their multiculturalism experiments going wrong. He backed it up with examples such as the schools in Burnley, which are often being shut down because of so much racial tension.
I expected stronger words though. But I was pleasantly surprised. DiSers wouldn't have found anything offensive about his speech - at all. He doesn't like Islam too much, but he explained British muslims' problems with the government very logically and said they were understandable.
Anyway, there was a lot of predictions about more riots etc., but he said that when it did come to it, if the BNP were in charge locally, they would work with members of ethnic minorities to start to try and fix the problems with them.
In summary, ALL the bile was directed towards Labour. There was literally nothing directed towards any minority - it was entirely political.
Which was good, I thought. I expected worse.
