Right.
Yesterday I came across a front-page story in a Doncaster newspaper about a woman with spinal injuries who had made inspirational progress with her poetry.
As someone who qualifies as 'not entirely able-bodied' and 'a poet', I felt I had to read.
In the end it transpired that she had received an 'Editor's Choice Award' from poetry.com.
Now, poetry.com are notorious scammers who once accepted a list of ingredients for publication in one of their anthologies. They exist only to take money from people.
I have an e-mail written and prepared ready to send the newspaper staff, to tell them of their mistake. But I don't want to spoil a woman's dreams and ruin her Christmas. Should I send it?
There are so many more ways to get your poetry out there, and these guys really are the lowest of the low.
To put it into context it's like making the front page of your local newspaper for signing a record contract with 'Paramount Records' from 'Nashville'.
