Surprise thread.... full of surprises
Whilst writing this very sentence, I’m having difficulty gathering ideas for content for my forthcoming article. I’ve sat down, without the foggiest clue how this will turn out. Unprofessional, you may think…. What sort of a writer does that? But it’s surprising how once you get the cursor moving across the screen, thoughts start spilling out. So, readers, take it in your stride, just as I am.
I did think about having a rant about how much animal excrement litters the streets, as I don’t currently have anything else to complain about. Then I thought some more….
There are so many varieties I come across in daily life, as most dogs are oddly inclined to do it on the pavement of a busy main road, for all the world to marvel at. It’s simply something you cannot ignore. No matter where you look, there’s one there, waiting to be stepped in, caked into you Nikes and smeared into your mum’s cream carpet. “Hello unsuspecting walker, I’m really going to annoy you, whether you deserve it or not” Would perhaps be what it would say, if it could talk. But, really it’s down to the dog owner isn’t it? Shame on all you dog owners who don’t scoop the poop! Don’t you realise you could have a hefty fine dropped on you?
There is a crafty art in this kind of avoidance. Pretend you haven’t noticed you pooch doing a Richard the Third, and march on, innocently, dragging Billy the Bull terrier behind you.
But think... If you saw somebody using a plastic bag or one of those ridiculous grabbing devices to free the enduring pavement of the stinking heap, would you laugh at their misfortune, or would you respect them? After all, they would be saving at least one person from the disheartening “Squelch”.
As for the canine ‘friends’, do they have no dignity or self respect? Okay, doggy lavatories aren’t particularly common unless you live with the Osbournes where they seem to be everywhere…but what would anyone think if a human being just dropped their slacks and squatted on the path? Not a nice image is it? That’s because as people, we are (usually) brought up to believe fro ma very early age this is socially incorrect and inappropriate behaviour.
So why feed our pets sweetcorn?
I’d like to conclude with that image in your heads. This is not just a crude attempt at trying to be controversial and ‘well random’. It’s actually a far more serious issue than you may think. Just you wait. Forget about deciding what clothes you’ll wear tomorrow. Just choose wisely on what shoes you’ll slip on- can never be too careful about slipping on something else.
Stay safe, people. And dog owners, save the pavement, and potentially, a life.
