Will Self on Radio 4 this morning
He was speaking about 'kidults' and these types reading Harry Potter and even the academic he was arguing with found it 'creepy' seeing so many adults on tubes, on park benches and even walking along for crying out loud all reading the same book. Naturally I agree, but I've only really seen one 'bachelor who lives with his dead mother' reading 'the Deathly Hallols' so far, which has naturally concerned me.
Anyway his argument was that adults reading such blah just retards their reading ability and the style of writing denotes that its either a book for children, which let's face it, it is, or for simpletons, of which, in the adult world there is sadly more than you realise. I agree. Anyone else?
