Intelligence
I've noticed more and more recently how there seems to be a few different kinds of intelligence. I've just watched the documentary on Cherie Blair, who, for a QC, came across as quite a naive and ditzy (for want of a better word) character. There seems to be a number of people who although they have an enviable amount of intelligence, it is purely academic. They may be able to solve equations, but seem incapable of everyday tasks and situations which require common sense. For example, my friend gained a staggering amount of As at GCSE level, and has been predicted As at A level, yet when she was questioned who was on tv infront of her, she did not know that they were called Gordon Brown, and happened to be running the country. Conversely, there are many who struggled their way through education, yet know how to deal with people and circumstances. If i meet people, i seem to judge their intelligence more on how fluently they speak, or views on issues than i do their huge knowledge of a subject or university final grade etc etc. Although there are many who fit both criteria of almost social nonce and academic intelligence, i can't think of examples.
I've rambled on inanely once again, without a real point. I think my point is, the Cherie type people annoy me more than a little.
