Liz Phair
Just heard Batmobile and was very very impressed.
Listened to the next one suggested via youtube and it was dire.
Can anyone tell me if she has an album that is just lo fi guitar and her voice? I don't want the band arrangement stuff.
I can't stop listening to that song. I need more!

Like many people I only have Exile On Guyville. She's a famous
"one album wonder". Try an American band called Tsumani from the mid-90s. I really liked the lead singer's voice. I think her name was Jenny Toomey. She sounds a bit like Liz Phair. A Brilliant Mistake is the album to check out.
Yeah, I only have Exile in Guyville
The only Tsunami record I have is Deep End. Early 90's girls with guitars, how I miss thee.
Tsunami were great. I'll drag and drop A Brilliant Mistake to my mp3
now for the journey to work tomorrow. It's been a while since I heard them. To those who haven't heard of them, have a listen:

Batmobile
is on the Girly Sound tapes, which are her super lo-fi demo recordings before she signed with Matador and put out the brilliant Exile in Guyville. I really recommend having a listen to that album, it really is something else.
But if you're just looking her lo-fi guitar and voice then there is the odd song that crops up on her later albums, but nothing really like the Girly Sound stuff. Try "Chopsticks", the first track from Whip-Smart, although you probably won't like the rest of the album. That's a beautiful song, that is.
Exile is a great album.
I also have 2 Tsunami albums. Deep End and The Heart's Tremelo. Great records both.
I also only have Exile in Guyville
and it's a brilliant album, there's very little I dislike about it. GET THAT
