You need to listen to John Murry. You may also enjoy the Leisure Society and Savages and King Khan. I agree with most of your recommendations. Lot of good bands on the EoTR lineup.
Except that Frightened Rabbit are excellent, IMHO.
'Feel i should be getting into Frightened Rabbit' - what a weird thing to say. Listen to them. If you like them, then 'get into them'. If not, don't bother.
has some very good tracks, but one of those bands you can get the measure of quickly and don't need to hear too much of. Don't really listen to much of them anymore apart from tracks mentioned from Midnight Organ Fight, but "i hate when i feel like this, but I never hated you" gets me every fucking time somehow.
Sing The Greys - Great
Midnight Organ Fight - All time favourite album contender, a classic.
The Winter of Mixed Drinks - Production lets it down a bit but there's still some really good songs on there.
Pedestrian Verse - Favourite album of this year so far
Do you love Snow Patrol?
Then you'll like Frightened Rabbit. Genuinely surprised by the amount of people into that band. Brain rot.
lazy comparison
dismissed
depends, if you're ok with heart-on-the-sleeve lyrics then yeah, for sure
Modern Leper - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wu2TPvtOTEw
The Twist - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOh6kKrQioE
File under bands that I only listen to 1 song of but love that one song
Frightened Rabbit - The Twist
One of the few bands that appeal to my friends
and my dad.
You can probably get Midnight Organ Fight for under a fiver and that'll tell you all you need to know.
Nah, don't bother
They've been shit for the longest time
they had a good album once

Not feeling much love at the moment
Thought they'd be worth checking out at EOTR as line up is pretty crap at the moment.
Bands better then Frightened Rabbit on that line up [excluding headliners]
Dinosaur JR, Jens Lekman, Efterklang, Polica, Matthew E White, Caitlin Rose, Allow Darlin, Cass Mccombs. Check those out if you haven't
Ones I recognise anyways
the are lots I don't

Allo Darlin are the worst band ever
I think you're being a bit hyperbolic in that reply
the song they play at the end of their set is alright the first time you hear it live

Very very weird thread.
Not that weird really
The best way to judge them is to listen to them and decide.
Should never force yourself to get into a band because others like them. And for the record I think FR are a very good band with one classic album.
FR + Twilight Sad
Tomorrow night
Gothic Theater, Denver........I'll be there :)

Midnight Organ Fight = great and really worth a listen
Top tracks: "I Feel Better" (my song of 2008), "The Twist" and "Keep Yourself Warm".
The rest you can comfortably ignore.
sing the greys
& pedestrian verse are also well worth a listen
not understanding all the negativity towards them itt
great band
If this had been posted a few months ago I'm pretty sure the reaction would have been totally different
The backlash seems to be in full swing now.
For what it's worth, here's my input.
