http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/15116-her-parents-why-dont-you-just-fuck-off/
Thought this might be a Help She Can't Swim cover.
Sounded pretty similar actually. Cool.
Also I just looked at your Facebook page and one of you sang Gary Puckett & The Union Gap at ATP. I said well done afterwards. Was that you alcxxk? </stalker>
yes that was me!
a personal highlight. thanks
had no idea HSCS had a song called this??? kinda embarrassing, even tho i love them
oh cool, it's just a line from fermez
Yeah on reflection it was fairly unlikely
Will be at the show with Good Cop anyhow.
*Great Cop, natch.
good save ;)
*Great Save
The video (and song) is really good.
Well done you.
thank you very much indeed
I watched the video without any sound and it still made me laugh.
So well done for that.
what's funny???
YOUR FACE IS FUNNY.
Also, come see HP here (not you, you'll be there anyway):
https://www.facebook.com/events/531521860199897/

don't worry about gouda cheeses
Art Brut want their sound back.

I think your band is really good.
I may come and ruffle your hair
thank you and please feel free
unless i've got it combed back, then i get cranky when it's touched
The CD is sold out
i mean, it was 1p so that's not impressive, but still
Come see Her Parents and Great Cop together in London, for free no less!
https://www.facebook.com/events/467867796613938/
This is fucking great
<3
YOU'RE fucking great
that mustang is a massive improvement
sounds great
mustang is panned left
played through an ibanez tube screamer (hand wired - best distortion i've ever used) into a blues jr
panned right is calum's explorer knock-off
I like this
when will info be avaialble about how to order the vinyl?
thanks
I'm not sure - it's not been sent to manufacturers yet, but should be soon. It will be sold through alcopop's store here: http://ilovealcopop.bigcartel.com/artist/her-parents and should definitely be available for 13th May
This thread's equivalent on the social board is going terribly!
http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/social/4427200
^Awesome thread.
Would read again.
I ain't stoppin you!
Consequence of sound said it was the 3rd best mp3 of the week
after Ciara and The Knife, but better than Fourtet and Earl Sweatshirt:
http://consequenceofsound.net/2013/03/top-10-mp3s-of-the-week-315/
Press release.
"Better than Four Tet. Not as good as Ciara though"
the knife song was really good tho
excited for their new album quite a lot
TONIGHT!
Come see Divorce, Poino and Her Parents and the Macbeth, Hoxton:
http://www.facebook.com/events/465950966793894/?fref=ts
The silentcommand posse
will be in attendance.
ace - we're on 8:30
poino 9:30
divorce 10:30
x
well that was a fun gig
what a great couple of bands. bit embarrassing really
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Have just digitally bought your album. Good stuff.
I thought that you and Divorce were excellent, Poino rather less so.
aw man, thanks a million
i really liked Poino, great playing, interesting stuff. loved the drums. only listened from the back tho cos i ate waaaay too much before getting on stage and was just completely fucked
^this
Poino's drummer is a bit good and I thought they were overall pretty brilliant. Her Parents were rowdy fun times and Divorce were absolutely devastating particularly the last track they played.
Poino's drummer is actually this guy from this legendary DiS thread:
http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/musicians/144171
His other band is The Display Team who, despite being describable as ska punk, are absolutely one of the most amazing live bands i've seen recently.
He also depped in Down I Go for a while, and they were just the best
I've got a lot of love and time for The Display Team. :D
what is their best album, shucksy?
This one!
http://thedisplayteam.bandcamp.com/album/drones
im now listening to this album
it's good but god it's SO good live
i've listened to it a couple of times and i still dont know what youre saying about holding midfielders
i'm really annoyed
YOU INSIST YOU'VE NEVER PLAYED A HOLDING MIDFIELDER
THAT'S BULLSHIT
:D
apparently a holding midfielder is a tactic that's generally considered a bit shite
????
football song innit
When's the album actually out?
My band Her Parents has a new album out in May
(may 13th, specifically)
Cheers.
any time
my apologies for my previous sarky tone
The album comes out on May 13th and is called Happy Birthday
Here is a list of people born on May 13th:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_13#Births
Stevland Hardaway Morris aka Stevland Hardaway Judkins aka Stevie Wonder is one of them. Our last album contains a 19 second long cover-of-sorts of the best moment of music he ever wrote:
http://herparents.bandcamp.com/track/sir-puke
I have listened to this album and it is great
I'll be premièring something in my DiS podcast tomorrow
yeah
this is a series of true facts
I was a little worried that technical factors might have rendered it a lie
but no
facts are all true
OH i forgot to say, we're playing tonight at Power Lunches with Gunning For Tamar
http://www.facebook.com/events/466419673405454/?fref=ts
£3 in advance, £5 on the door, Moose Blood also playing. We're on at 8:15
anyone coming??
You can hear another song from the album in this month's DiS CPR
https://soundcloud.com/body-in-the-thames/disc-cpr-3

TBC date is currently looking a lot like us visiting laura from internet forever's mum's caravan in skegness and idk
can you not get a Leeds or Sheffield date in there for the 27th?
everyone in leeds is either going to see Fucked Up and Titus Andronicus that night
or is at Primavera.
REALLY want to play in the north east that night, newcastle or sunderland, but have contacted /so/ many promoters there. it's the day Frankie And The Heartstrings are releasing their new album, so that's a load of options in Sunderland taken out, and have heard from Newcastle promoters who are actually going to go to Leeds that night themselves.
haven't really looked at sheffield too much, will contact the guys who last put IF on there actually, good thinkin'
Playing a couple of gigs in East London this week, guys
Catch, 22 Kingsland Road, on Wednesday:

I'm actually playing a gig with my folk band around the corner at passing clouds on sunday as well, so that's nice.
duh should point out
first gig is with Hold Yr Horse Is and second is with The Patio Set, both good bands
the singer from hold yr horse is is doing massive pukes or something

OH NICE ONE DIS
THANK YOU VERY MUCH i wanted to say, not "my w", which was going to be a bad "your"/"you're" joke, rendered moar stupid by the fact that i decided to call one of the songs "Your Dead" for lulz
ordered
Was the fella on the cover on a channel 4 documentary about adult babies?
jesus fucking christ, it's all going off today
http://www.thisisfakediy.co.uk/articles/features/exclusive-listen-her-parents-happy-birthday/
stream the album, finally. download a song, whatever, it's christmas, fuck
yay
will listen tonight
Great
will give it a listen tonight. The one thing that is stopping me from ordering is that cover art. I know it's probably intentionally ironically bad, but I just don't want to be flicking through my records and have to look at it.
you can flip the record round and have a picture of a tiger instead if you like???
also happy to provide you with a version with the face blacked out in tape and a picture of a kitten selotaped on, at your discretion xx
(i will actually do this)
Thanks but i'll probally just
get a permanent marker and add some sunglasses and a mustache. Listened to the stream last night and the album sounds great.
thanks very much

you'll be able to buy it digitally from next week or something
LPs were sliiiiiiiiightly delayed at the pressing plant (i know this ALWAYS happens for small releases, but seriously, we gave them 8 weeks!) and we're getting them today so preorderers should have them say thursday or friday?
good luck with this dude
unfortunately I don't think I'm gonna be able to do that special podcast for your multiheaded tour thing - at least probably not in time for the tour - 'cos I'm rather stuck in the sick house innit
but again
Massive heaps of luck with it all
aw shame :(
