David Bowie - The Next Day (streaming on itunes)
Most reviews seem to have gone to one hyperbolic extreme or the other, but I'd say it's pretty good album on first play.

David Bowie
it's alright
listening now
this Valentine's day track is ripped off something though and it 's driving me mad
It sounds like Good Dancers by The Sleepy Jackson a bit...
Hi - just dug this thread up to say that YES
the track is very very like Good Dancers.
I think one of the melodies sounds like part of Pavement's
`In The Mouth A Desert` off Slanted and enchanted
Some of it is great and some of it is annoying
but alas it's only been one play. Scary Monsters is my favourite Bowie album and this seems to have a lot of parallels with it. The closing track Heat is pretty special.
only one play?
I taped it off iTunes
still depresses how how quickly places rush to put reviews out
maybe some of them had promos and embargo dates they weren't allowed to run reviews before or something?
the rush for hits is crazy
I'm really beginning to hate the NOW culture
I'm not sure that's fair
they were actually quite free with access to the record, so long as you could be bothered to go to his PR company's offices to listen to it... I heard it on Valentine's Day, appropriately enough. JUST HAVEN'T BEEN BOTHERED TO WRITE IT UP YET INNIT
Strawberry Fields Forever.
Do you have to download the itunes software to listen to this stream?
or is this just my shitty work computer being annoying?
Half way through
Pretty great so far. 'Dirty Boys' is a lot better than a song with that title ought to be
Half way through? How dare you!
QED
This sounds really dated
Like Reality, but somehow worse (or just ten years on).
Just noticed Andy Gill in the Independent described this as ``possible the greatest comeback album ever``
ridiculous.
That meta critic page in general reads like a fanboys wet dream
i bet it gets decent reviews
but by this time in a fortnight everyone goes back to only listening to Bowie songs that are 30+ years old again
Even at his best...
an unremarkable artist.

well, you just made a remark about him
so you're obviously wrong.
This album really is his best since Scary Monsters
not his best but I'm enjoying it a lot more then any of his other later output
probably his best since the last lump of shit he put out
My enjoyment of this has increased since initial listenings
couple of banging choruses in there.
i prefer Let's Dance
only just discovered that thats actually the cover
I thought it was just an image that sites were using because the real artwork hadn't been confirmed yet! Where's that worst artwork of 2013 thread....
you're kidding, right?
between that and the marketing / advertising campaign, I think it's comfortably up there with the best
