Wireless Festival 2013
Normally wouldn't touch this with a barge pole, but this year they've moved it to the Olympic park and booked some killer acts.
Friday has Justin Timberlake headlining, plus Frank Ocean, Snoop Dogg, Miguel and John Legend
Saturday has Jay-Z headlining, plus Kendrick Lamar, but then has Rita Ora, DJ Fresh, and Emile Sande
57.50 a day or 110 for both - I'm tempted by Friday, but it's probably going to be bell-end central, right?

Gonna get a ticket for the Friday
Was gonna pay that for Timberlake at the Forum but I couldn't get tickets, so this doesn't seem too bad at all.
Essentially this
The only trouble is, not sure I can realistically take any more holiday that month.
It'd be great fun
If it wasn't for the shite sound, horrendous organisation and it attracting the WORST people on earth.
Might be better with the new venue
Only "might", mind.
Daft Punk a few years back
had a great sound. Best I've heard whilst being stood in a London field.
I went to Rihanna last year
It sounded awful and I wasn't very far from the front. As I say, the new location looks a bit more isolated than a park slap bang in the middle of central London so could be an improvement.
I totally missed the new venue bit
Could be good then!
Anyone know if they have exclusivity over certain acts?
Really want to see Frank Ocean. Really don't want to see him at Wireless.
I know it was a while ago now and maybe not representative
But after seeing him at Coachella last year I can't ever imagine bothering to see him again, really uninteresting performer.
No exclusivity arrangement
in fact the opposite - if an act has paid money to get their ass over here they'll usually try and make some dough whilst they're here. Unfortunately, 'here' being Europe!
reckon they've been kicked out of Hyde Park?
is there anything scheduled there for this summer?
They left because of the noise restrictions

Bon Jovi are still playing there I think.
Vaguely remember them selling 2 for 1 tickets for the Pulp show in 2011
After I'd bought mine for full whack, obviously. Is this a regular Wireless feature?
They did it for Barclaycard holders or something similar I think.
I ended up getting Pulp tickets on Ebay for about a third of the price but Ebay are ditching ticket sales so that's probably a thing of the past now.
They're dual-siting ticket sales
Stub Hub is their dedicated site, but you'll be able to tout like a motherfucker / sell your spare on there for a while yet.
Chances of this selling out quickly?
Really wanna see Kendrick but the rest of that line-up ain't looking so promising.
It didn't sell out last year until really late
and that was Rihanna/Drake. But this is a particularly strong opening line-up..
Slightly depressing a face value day ticket to Wireless (£57.50)
is cheaper than a day ticket for I'll Be Your Mirror (£59).
Wireless is looking like pretty damn good value this year.
Jay and Kanye at the o2 was something like £50-80.
IBYM is such a rip.
economies of scale
What makes people think this will be filled with twats?
Never understand that way of thinking.
Small sample size I know..
But acquaintances I have on Facebook that went last year were the kind of people DiSsers abhor... went for the singles, spent the whole time taking pictures, head to toe in River Island - that king of thing.
Past experience
I won a competition for the LCD Soundsystem day a few years back.
Snoop Dogg and Missy Elliot were fun, and I never really complain about the crowd at shows but fucking hell, there were a hell of a lot of dicks at LCD Soundsystem.
Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, Frank Ocean and Miguel does look real tasty though. That Saturday looks excellent.
Friday*
whatever.
Just booked my ticket for Friday. BOSH!
Third date added

"This will be a preview of JAY Z and Justin Timberlake’s North American LEGENDS OF THE SUMMER STADIUM TOUR. A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, A$AP Rocky and Rizzle Kicks also join the bill."
Genuinely cannot understand the thinking behind putting Quest and Rizzle Kicks on the same bill.
Tribe!
Oh damn, probably gonna have to go to this as well.
Shiiiiiiiiiiiit
Really want to see Tribe.
fucking hell
100% going to this
slightly annoying
already bought a ticket for Friday. Ah well.
Good news for those who want to go
Blur 2012 ruined by noise restrictions in Hyde Park
Its not in Hyde Park anymore
that's my point
I've been to Wireless pretty much every year
thanks to a friend connected with it and I'd like to stick up for the typical audience. It's generally a mixture of kids, families, day-trippers and music fans. I mean, everyone is going to have a different experience and the law of averages means in a crowd of 50,000 there will be some dicks but I've never had a problem. My issues would be pissed up ladz, rude obnoxious people, those too cool for school, fights, the disinterested and I've never encountered them. Sure, the people going are your 'casual music fans' (see the usual headliners) so if that gets your goat then so be it, but all nice considerate people in the main.
Important to expectations though is that it's not a festival, it's a day out in London in the sun (every time but once) watching bands.
The sound has always been the number one genuine complaint that the new location should address.
I'm going to the Saturday.
Seen JT before, never seen Jay-Z, and Kendrick Lamar and Miguel swayed it for me. Pretty pissed that they've now announced this Sunday line-up though. Tribe and Nas? Wish I could go to that one.
I'll also stick up for the crowd. I've been a few times- it's really not that bad. Lots of 'casual' music fans, but what's wrong with that? Non-bedwetters really aren't that intimidating, guys.
That Sunday looks so good.
