Is it just me that thinks its stupid that there are 2 rappers with virtually identical names.
ASAP Rocky and Aesop Rock are just too similar. One of them should change.

Quite different images though.
Also, I thought it was pronounced "A-S-A-P Rocky" not "Asap Rocky"
nope
its pronounced Asap. I.e. ay-sapp
Fair enough.
I'd never actually heard anyone say it, but was assuming it was A.S.A.P as in "As Soon As Possible"
Thats how he says it
Like most rappers, he tends to talk about himself in the third person a fair bit.
O:
That has to be the stupidest thing I've heard this year. Is this serious?
These sorts of similarities always amaze me.
Real Estate not knowing/caring about Sunny Day Real Estate existing.
confused me for a while too
Sunny Day Real Estate
fuck off, DIS.
Sunny Day Real Estate
Real Estate
A Sunny Day in Glasgow

Part of Living Legends crew. I used to get him mixed up w Aesop Rock, and NOW we have A$AP Rocky.
I'd like to hear a track called
Asop - Rock It ft. Aesop Rock & A$ap Rocky
as soon as i read the title i knew this thread would be about them two
Robert Webb's Compare The Market/Meerkat advert may help
from differentiating the two rappers.
do we get a cuddly Aesop Rock~?
i assumed it was intentional
They should both get a real job.
Not the same thing I know
but in Poland there are rival banks called PKO (pronounced Peh-ka-oh) and one called Pekao (pronounced Peh-kay-oh).
what a coincidence
their music comes from pretty different points in space
i don't think it really matters
Only one of them is worth listening to.
nah, I like Rocky as well
...

'mazing
*Not to be confused with Dr. Dre.*
I remember the episode of Fresh Prince he was on
At the time I thought the show was just too cheap to get the real Dre on
A$AP Rocky denying any deliberate similarity
was extremely chinny.
never noticed before
I remember Jeru tha Damaja calling out
Ja Rule for biting his name. There's also the likes of Young Guru and Gang Starr's Guru, not to mention the similar names that went on back in the day, with all the Grandmasters, Grandwizards, and Kool something or others.
Can't say I ever noticed the ASAP/Aesop similarity, though I daresay it's pretty obvious.
well actually
He didn't come up with the ASAP (always strive and prosper) crew anagram, and, he chose Rocky because his birth name is Rakim (after the New York rapper) but ASAP Rakim WOULD sound a bit stupid.
..I guess you could say he was between aSAP rockY and a hard place (?)

The day Aesop Rock changes his name because of the existence of ASAP Rocky
is the day I just give up on music.
I also really like the idea of Asap Rocky fans turning up to an Aesop show and being like ''yo who's the dude with the beard? And also what in the name of fuck is he talking about?''
Woah woah woah woah
Whose this Aesop and where is my thesaurus? I ain't heard no ho, glock or facebook references yet
I'll never refer to ASAP Rocky as Aysapp.
i always thought
fuck you DiS
i always thought the similarity between Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All and Wolf Gang was unfortunate.
i can only imagine how many people turned upto Wolf Gang sets at festivals expecting to see people in supreme five panels chanting "free earl"

Phixx.
I don't care what he is
I don't want these immigrants here.
White and black people can't look similar?
Pretty racist.

That would work better if one of them wasn't white.
White guys have names like Lenny
whereas black guys have names like Carl.

If one of them was to change their name...
It should be Asap Rocky. Aesop Rock has been playing the game for many years more.
