The most obscure artist you like

I know this is a bit of a DIS cliche, but do you know any bands who, say, only have about 4 people who have actually HEARD of them, let alone being hardcore fans? I know this might risk making them a bit more mainstream, but it would be good to see how cult an artist can be before they think "Sod it, I'm signing to a major and going to sell more records than the Beatles."

Pretty big fan of this band from the 70s called Big Star.

They didn't have any hits, and don't appear on any compilations, but they're definitely worth checking out!

Recently I saw a documentary about G.G. Allin

from the Hungover/Starsky & Hutch/Road Trip director. Quite impressive.
Excessive, bizarre, scary,... It was not easy to define or understand the "character". Unlike other "rock and roll" artists more or less established, GG Allin did not encourage rebellion. He was the rebellion in person. In this documentary you can watch some scenes of his "shows" live, which included: self-mutilation, defecation and coprophagia, physical aggression against the assistance,...

      The irony in his life story comes at the end. He considered himself so alienated and different from other artists, but he did not end in a symbolic / heroic / atypical way (on stage, as he promised - a kind of sacrifice in the name of "rock rescue"), but a "common" heroin overdose, like so many other rock stars.

I like lots of artists so obscure that, if I mentioned their name here, the increase in people in the world who've even heard of them would INSTANTLY increase to way outside of the top 10 most obscure artists I like and thus no longer qualify for this thread :D

I don't remember what they're called

but I was at this bands debut gig, with no support, and I was the only one there. I was also the soundman, promoter and barman for the night, the band played their set and it was the best thing I had ever heard, however due to the poor turn out all the members killed themselves with fire which burnt not only the musicians alive but also all their CDs, Instruments & anything else that can hold some sort of memory or attachment to the source material.

In short, only I know of this music

...singer who died and then people got to like playing her songs in both adverts and funerals, so obscure she's extinct, Eva Cassidy was her name, check her out, or maybe don't.
Michael Jackson was slightly better known but also quite obscure in remote parts of the Amazonian forest, are you from the Amazonian forest? If so, that's another recomendation, dead again though!
And my mate Darren plays the geeeetar, so obscure I've not even heard him but he tells me he rocks, don't keep an eye out/ear open for Darren!

I only know 2 people who like Narcosis,

1 of the said people got me into them, and the other is someone who i passed them onto.

As for Narcosis themselves dearly missed, unrelenting grindcore insanity to the point that the original grind fans, who were there when it started, have that "bloody hell what a racket, too much for me" expression when first exposed.
