Favourite power ballad?
I'm heading to Ultimate Power tomorrow night for NYE, and fancied giving myself a dry-run. What are some of your favourites?
p.s. we're giving away, amongst other things, tickets to the sold out NYE party over here http://drownedinsound.com/news/4145831-epic-win--12-days-of-dismas-giveaways

'Is This Love' is ace.
The video always helps me make my mind up too.
'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now' by Starship would be a contender.
Erm, I actually really like this stuff as my mum had cassette after cassette of this kind of music on in the kitchen all the time when I was growing up and it was background music at every working men's club and smoke filled pub in my early youth. God, the memories.
Been listening to Phil Collins' 'Separate Lives' (ft, Marilyn Martin) a bit recently. It's not a power ballad in the strictest sense but there you go.
Always guaranteed to get me belting out the chorus with a look on my face, I hope emanates sincerity and pained anguish - but in reality, probably just makes me look like I'm forcing a challenging fart out.
I briefly thought you meant the PJ Harvey song.
I was a bit confused, given it's a good song rather than a power ballad.
Skid Row - I Remember You
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jO4Bb1xQHXw
Haha! Yes!
or Bon Jovi - I'll be There For You
('when you breathe, I want to be the air for you')
Phill Collins - Against All Odds?
Its quite boombastic
Hungry Eyes
Broken Wings
come sail away
Broken Wings is the right answer.
how come people so often say there is a right answer when it's just everyone's favourite?
it's weird
It's a joke that assumes the person writing has the best taste therefore everyone should listen, Mr c_r.
oh no, i would have no idea who has the best taste
Hard Habit To Break - Chicago
Alone - Heart
Boys Of Summer
Not a power ballad imo
Best song in this thread though...
Better than Purple Rain?
You're off your chump.
Total Eclipse of the Heart
definitely
I actually dj at a monthlypower ballad night
and this is the song that always gets the most requests
i love that song
fix?
John Farnham - You're The Voice
so much this
St Elmo's Fire.
A brilliant song.
I want to know what love is by foreigner
Actually quite like a good power ballad.
Black Velvet
...if you please.
I think you'll find...
...it's 'Show Me Heaven' by Maria McKee. No?
Alice Cooper - Poison
Heart - Alone
epic, especially when she does that little screech / squeal near the end.
It is a great song
Thunder - Love Walked In
surely
Nilsson's Without You should be in here
the original power ballad (if you don't count You Lost That Loving Feeling)
I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight
Cutting Crew. I used to have an amazing triple cd set of this kind of stuff years ago.
Not my favourite, but I've always loved
The Hooters - Satellite
the bryan adams dirge in robin hood?
(not that i like it, just awfully difficult to forget).
favourite one, if only for the teen snog memories, would likely be chicago's 'if you leave me now'.
Total Eclipse Of The Heart
obviously
Girl on the Moon - Foreigner
Followed closely by Kansas' Dust In The Wind
