Stuff like Fucked Up
Hey all. Years ago all I listened to was punk and hardcore stuff. Now, nothing, but by accident more than any. Really enjoying it. Pretty out of touch with that kind of scene though. Who else should I listen to in a similar vein? Much appreciated.

Fucked Up the hardcore band or the prog band?
Titus Andronicus are probably the only thing close to them right now anyway. AND THEY'RE TOURING TOGETHER
i love bot
but i wouldnt say they are anything like each other
they're like each other
in that they both are actively pushing punk music to their outer limits, in their own individual ways. Also because neither are afraid to write long songs.
have you tried trash talk
they rock hard!!!!
have a look at the prog thread.
avoid anything noted as full cape.
Ice Age
New Brigade is a class album and they've got another one out this year
Japandroids
are similarly full-steam-ahead.
nah
uhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
also don't have a creative bone in their body, they have great songs for mono listen but a whole album by the guys is just about the single dullest thing ever. Fucked Up are very creative and broad in approach whilst sticking to fundementals
you've always been my fav
lol
'sticking to fundementals'
no can dunk, but good fundamentals
Yeah, not a great deal out there like them but try
Kowloon Walled City. Their new one Container Ships is my album of the year I think. Only released last week but love it. Hard.
Defeater - Empty Days and Sleepless Nights. Fucked Up-ish in that it tells a story.
Mountain Man - Grief. As above. Basically one long song divided into the five stages of grief. A masterpiece.
Also check out Bastions and Kerouac. If I were the sort of person to just create genres for no real reason I would call most of the above Mourncore. But I'm not. So I won't.
Liking Kowloon Walled City, top stuff!
The Bronxxxxxxxx
zzzz
nah
bronx are lovely.
i'm just guessing here right
but Ceremony are on Matador now and also used to be more hardcore. So that mighta work for you.
as long as it isn't their matador album
which is ok at best
shipping news might be of interest to you.
Title Fight could fit the bill
http://youtu.be/pNMwSnAAJAE
They always remind me of a heavier Les Savy Fav
So maybe you'll enjoy LSF.
all fat bearded men who sing from the crowd sound the same eh?
you racist
Ha! :D
to this end, Action Bronson?
...
Wiccans, but that's more like pre Matador Fucked Up.
You should listen to Punch
They're not like Fucked Up at all, really, but you should still listen anyway.
^They were great when I saw them supporting Negative Approach.
They absolutely annihilated everything when I saw them in Glasgow
So much so that when Negative Approach came on, I thought, 'Why are they even bothering?'
Consistently and comfortably the best band I've seen live.
Know what else you should listen to?
Hoax.
Listen to Hoax. There you go.
Stormcrow mentioned Bastions and kerouac
in a similar vein you have The Long Haul, Vales(Veils), Pariso, Goodtime Boys (ex automatic :D), and maybe Witch Cult.
Ravachol could well a good shout, and We Came Out Like Tigers maybe, there's lots of great british bands knocking about.
And if you like Screamo, FTWIHATHHTTS and IDWTKWTCBS are both really good and have hilariously pretentious pop culture reference band names that I can't be bothered to type out in full.
And if you like the whole tough guy beatdown stuff
there's Brutality Will Prevail and Desolated and such, but I'm not the best person to ask about all that.
^ less than enthused for a reason
BWP suck
I just can't buy into that whole tough guy, start fights at shows, crowd killing spin kicking thing
and am constantly surprised by how popular it all is.
Witch Cult rule
They do
lot's of fun to watch, though I'm never sure how many members to expect.
I dunno
my band?
fugazi?
