music you can't bring yourself to take off a mp3 device with limited capacity
found this kinda interesting. my ipod broke in april so i started putting music on my phone to listen to on the go. due to limited capacity, i keep on putting on and taking albums off. however, the following albums i appear to have kept since i got the phone:
attack on memory - cloud nothings
being there - wilco
days - real estate
in the aeroplane over the sea - neutral milk hotel
madvillainy - madvillain
the sophtware slump - grandaddy
(both singles) - jai paul
these (mostly) arent my 6 favourite albums ever but i've never ever felt the need to sacrifice them to fit something else on, while theres been over 100 other albums come and go. anyone else have a similar experience?

Really good thread
I can't immediately name them all, but about half of the stuff on an 8gb card I seem very reluctant to offline.

Yeah I have definitely had the ipod to phone scenario in the past
Felt quite liberating at first (selecting a playlist of 20 albums to take everywhere) but soon I pined for my collection. Anyway, to answer the thread:
Korallreven - An album by Korallreven
Wolf Parade - Apologies to the queen mary
Horse Feathers - House with no name
Wild Beasts - Two Dancers
Gayngs - Relayted -
good thread
I've found this too. Since I've started taking just my iphone to work I have limited capacity compared to my old 80GB player which had pretty much everything I could want to listen to. I figured I could just keep a rotation of stuff I'm into at the moment. But, I've really missed just being able to listen to anything I own when I feel like it, and sometimes I'm just not in the mood for anything that is in my shrunk down library, and end up not listening to anything.
Anyway, I reckon these are the mainstays in my limited library:
Aphex Twin - SAW 1
Battles - Both albums
The Bluetones - S/T, Expecting to Fly, Luxembourg (seemingly random selection but obviously chosen on purpose)
Fever Ray
Future of the Left - All albums
Joanna Newsom - Have one on me
No age - Everything in Between
Radiohead - King of Limbs Remixes -
You can have a lil kiss for keeping The Sophtware Slump
my favourite album ever arguably <3.
I'll think about this later, I too have seen my fat Ipod die and have had to go on a budget MP3 player instead as I don't have a smart phone.

I associate you so completely with hip-hop
that I almost find it sort of quaint when you discuss rock records in favourable terms

it's 2012 who doesn't have 900TB of space?
is obama even president yet in your time?
-
haha, yeah
I listen to so much other stuff, though! I even loved a few indie records from this year.

Boards of Canada
Geogaddi and Music Has The Right To Children.
I've only got a 4gb iPod. Everything else comes and goes from the library, but these two have been on there since I first put them on about 2 years ago.

Nothing.
If my old part time job at Somerfield only taught me one thing, it's the importance of stock rotation.

I haven't listened to it this year I don't think,
but I'm never getting rid of The Mae Shi - HLLLYH
-
I am brutal with it
I do things like delete everything and just put on artists beggining with M, or albums released only in 2012, mainly so I listen to stuff I wouldn't normally reach for. Sometimes I do hanker for some old familiar music though, some Red House Painters, Sigur Ros, Sufjan Stevens and SFA usually do the trick in that case.
